I reckon Curtis will play Origin in 2018 just not with us. he needs to get away from the Tigers.

Are you drunk?

I dunno Col…if Sironen goes to Manly as rumoured he will most likely play Origin in 2017..seems to worked for Dylan Walker..

Lol. I love these comparisons.
Dylan Walker was class from day one. Sironen doesn't know the meaning of class and chances are he won't get to find out.

Isn't one B.Fulton a SOO selector?…and remember Jamie Buhrer made the SOO team a new years back...says it all..

Wouldn't you think he had some good mentors in his father and blocker ? look at his natural size now and in a couple of years he will be same size as his dad or bigger .. put him in the middle and tell him to run straight and hard often and hit like he wants to hurt someone bad but legally ..can he do it ..don't think so as too much like BMM for me.. Will his brother do it .. Yep I think so from what I have seen

How many five-eighths do that?

Sironen hasn't been properly taught how to be a good back rower.

It sounds simple, but when you go from being a sideways creative player to a straight running metre eater, its a bigger change than many realise.

And you've obviously never had to teach anyone anything…..
Learning is a 2 way street.
Humans are fundamentally lazy, And will only learn what they want to.
He's been in the back row for 3 years now - If he's not cutting the mustard by now under a few different mentors, I would think it's more application than transition.

Its a two way street if someone has made an effort to provide education.

Theres been none of that from the evidence we've all seen. Basic fundamentals of a forward are not being practiced by Curtis. That speaks volumes.

Sure he could take some initiative and ask, the fact he hasn't is entirely his fault.

But the fact no one has bothered to properly coach him is not entirely his fault.

So Potter, Taylor and Stringer have all failed to teach him anything. Maybe he should have asked his father, who has been critical of the club's efforts with his son, to teach him how to be a second rower. He should know something about this position.

I absolutely disagree re Walker, I think he's always been an over-rated player with a bit of speed.

It was Bozo's last season (unfortunately for Qld )

How he has never won the Wally Lewis Medal amazes me , he has been great for us , we grow an extra leg after his selections

Potter let him play entirely differently to the way Taylor wanted him to play - and Taylor is Stringer's boss and told how to play him in reggies.
He's been coached to forget the things that made him different (and stand out) and play like a robot by Taylor.
And people wonder why he has a hard time getting his heart into it.
As long as Taylor remains he'd be better at a club that would let him play to his strengths and help him develop them.

Come on.
He just has zero impact in both offence and defence.
I have zero memory of him doing anything fantastic on the field yet I have no problem remembering other plodders at least having some good games.

He is the definition of a plodder. Look in the dictionary and Sironens picture is there as an example.

I used to believe that until ET joined and did all the things that Sirro was allegedly not "allowed" to do.

I'm happy for Sirro to play with flair. Sometimes he looks pretty good. However, he needs to do the hard yakka also. He doesn't need to play like a robot, but he can't bludge.

What nonsense.

His job is to put his heart into his football every time he takes the field, under the instructions he's been given. If he can't do that, I don't want him at the club.

I don't complain when my boss assigns me difficult or annoying work - it's my job. Either I do it, or I stop complaining and find another line of work.

I'm just wondering what these things that Sirro could do that made him "different and to stand out " are CK ??

Nothing good that's for sure

A salary cap rort if ever I have seen one. An extra $90k to Walker outside the salary cap with Manly's chief recruiter also a state selector….

Chris Lawrence made the switch to 2nd row like he was born into it.
What's Curtis's excuse?

Not sure if Chris is the best example, he looked good early but towards the back end of 2016 he looked shot

Well he obviously had something to get him through to first grade - remembering he was graded as a back.
I'm the first to agree he seems lazy and could put more into it, but I have also seen him be the only bloke we had on the field who could dominate in a tackle (admittedly not hard with our pack).
He obviously can pass and kick - and these assets have been completely eradicated from his game.
Just seems to me that Taylor wants him to be a Lovett clone.
As I said before- he'll do better away from Taylor.

I'm talking about his time to transition from centre to 2nd row. It was immediate.
Curtis has had 3+ years to make the transition. Still nothing.

Maybe Curtis is not the sharpest tool in the shed….

He shouldn't have exercised his option to stay for another year then should he?

Wouldn't have got the money the option was offering anywhere else - This way he's guaranteed decent money no matter how well he plays or for whom?
Cheers,

I've read some extremely hyperbolic things about Taylor the last 12 months, but him being blamed for Siro's form almost tops it all. He was no different under Potter to what he's been under Taylor. Lazy and entitled. Its good to see the majority have woken up to him. If he wants to come back into the 17, its up to him to put the effort in and earn his place. Lovett cops it deluxe on here, but what he lacks in natural talent he makes up for in heart. Its the reverse for Siro. Doesn't show enough ticker to be successful.

Cheers,

Totally get that, and it's the club's fault for giving him a stupid deal in the first place. What I'm asking is why he'd take the option if he feels so badly treated by the coaching methods at the club, to the extent (as the post I was replying to suggested) that he feels his career is being destroyed.

One thing or another, surely?
