Curtis Sironen released [Official p.40]

When he first stated in grade he wasn't outstanding but he showed a lot of skill and promise. He's game recently regressed so much that he can't warrant a spot in the 17\. I hope he kills it in SC and stays there for a good Long period to sort out his game.

I wanna know who's showing him the ropes?
- we haven't had a decent back rower in forever….

Simon Dwyer was in the coach's box the other night.
Maybe he can give Sirro some insight -
After all, Dwyer was very good pre-injury.

….With the wisdom he developed over 30 odd games of first grade?
- Mostly at Prop from the bench.

Dwyer had infinite potential, But was hardly the revolution most remember him to be.

Wouldn't you think he had some good mentors in his father and blocker ? look at his natural size now and in a couple of years he will be same size as his dad or bigger .. put him in the middle and tell him to run straight and hard often and hit like he wants to hurt someone bad but legally ..can he do it ..don't think so as too much like BMM for me.. Will his brother do it .. Yep I think so from what I have seen

How many five-eighths do that?

Sironen hasn't been properly taught how to be a good back rower.

It sounds simple, but when you go from being a sideways creative player to a straight running metre eater, its a bigger change than many realise.

And you've obviously never had to teach anyone anything…..
Learning is a 2 way street.
Humans are fundamentally lazy, And will only learn what they want to.
He's been in the back row for 3 years now - If he's not cutting the mustard by now under a few different mentors, I would think it's more application than transition.

Sirro who?…To be honest he's not being missed one little bit. The team are doing just fine without him. He never really had any impact in the team anyway. He was just a passenger.

That is very harsh on a young player learning a position.

A passenger - Really! Very harsh indeed.

Just my opinion Russ. That's all.

He was never taught the basics so he is always going to remain at the same level.

Its stating the bleeding obvious.

If he continues to not be taught anything he'll continue not improving

It's always someone else's fault ? Sorry I'm not buying that line.

Again. You haven't been taught how to not be an irrational moron, thus you will always be an irrational moron.

Its a two way street if someone has made an effort to provide education.

Theres been none of that from the evidence we've all seen. Basic fundamentals of a forward are not being practiced by Curtis. That speaks volumes.

Sure he could take some initiative and ask, the fact he hasn't is entirely his fault.

But the fact no one has bothered to properly coach him is not entirely his fault.

Most of the guys who progressed quickly from Toyota cup to NRL actually dominated the u20s but I saw a bit of young Siro in u20s and to me he never dominated at that level. He was good but he was not a class above everyone else. Now players like Barba,Milford even Arron Woods they all were a class above the rest.

I am not writing Siro off, but who would you drop from our side to give him a run?? and I guess that would be the case at most other clubs

I don't think it's realistic to operate on the assumption that nobody is making any effort to coach him, or that they're failing to advise him of the flaws in his game. For whatever reason he hasn't worked out as well as hoped in the 2nd row and in the early days it may well have been the lack of a gradual transition, but now it's on him. Hopefully he can find some confidence and form in State Cup because with the skills he has he could definitely be useful as a lock or 2nd rower in first grade. Run harder, run more often, think about where you're running and back your skills a bit more and you'll be fine Sirro.

I don't know whether he has it in him or not to turn his form around and become the player we hoped he would be, but we need to get something out of him because at the moment it's just been a big waste of everything; time, money, potential.. I have a feeling that if we let him go in a year or two that he'd probably go on to be quite good. I just hope he turns things around while he's here and makes a real impact sometime soon - we need it!

Thank goodness the tigers didn't commit to him.
He is on the outer and rumoured to be off to Manly.
At least Taylor is doing the right things in terms of removing the overpaid deadwood.

Yes overnight. How many games did Sironen have between playing five eighth in the NRL and his first NRL game as a back rower? You are delusional beyond comprehension if you think that move can be done in the time curtis had to do it in and be successful.

That was 3 and a half years ago now. I think he's had time to adapt.

2013 - Round 19 he played as halfback.

4 weeks later he played his first game in the back row.

What a useless player. How dare he not be like Gareth Ellis in the space of a month.

Show me a half who moved to the back row in that time who became remotely decent.

Wally Lewis ??

Brad Fittler ??

Chook Raper ??

Bwaith …... sorry bad example

You asked .....

I reckon Curtis will play Origin in 2018 just not with us. he needs to get away from the Tigers.

Sirro should try getting a gig with The Storm. I think Bellamy is someone who could almost certainly help this kid realise his potential which I still believe is considerable.

The Sharks have a good recent track record with improving forwards. He wouldn't get a look in with the Storm second row.

Are you drunk?

I dunno Col…if Sironen goes to Manly as rumoured he will most likely play Origin in 2017..seems to worked for Dylan Walker..
