Course I don't SC, but as I said to Geo I think the club really needs some positive news asap after how our season ended

If we do have a few signings as some are suggesting , even releasing one of them would be good PR and business , especially with launch of the new memberships and with Xmas as close as it is

As we spoke about previously , if you look at 2017 with a fine tooth comb I wouldn't be putting too much dosh on us making the Top 8 with the current roster

Fans aren't fools , if they aren't going to get some news soon of a positive nature they aren't going to support the WT's with new memberships or increased sales of merchandise

Just my opinion …

I don't want positive news stories. I just want to make the 8 next year. Our roster is fine. The coach is the issue as he has been the last 2 years.

You sound confident ??

You can take the same bet that Geo took that with our current roster (not including the possible signing of Idris or others ) that they will make the Top 8 if you like

Like stealing candy from babies in my opinion

Money where your mouth is big boy …........

You sure you can double your $20 scratchie limit to $40…...?

What's this caveat you are putting on it...?

Our current roster means our current roster 2016 players (within reason of course )

If we sign a couple of superstar Smith ,Cronk , Folau , Lyon etc I have the right to pull out of the bet

That's fair ,Steve bleats on about how wonderful our roster is …....

Words are only words .......

Has anyone ever explained to our players that they simply aren't good enough to bag any Coach. We haven't finished in the top half of the comp for 5 seasons. They're not as good as they think they are. I don't know if Taylor is the right man for the job,but it seems like every Coach has problems with this squad. Be a consistent Semi final team or God forbid a Premiership team and then you earn that right. In the meantime, SHUT UP AND PLAY

I consider Teddy and RF good enough to bag the coach, Teddy is a superstar and RF repped OZ - both superior to JT. Moses year for year is at a superior level than Jason was and maybe ever was. Maybe they shouldn't bag the coach out of respect and harmony but under their breath….

Doesn't make a lot of sense.
How can he be "signed, sealed and delivered" if Manly are still "waiting for an official release from Wests Tigers".
Sounds like a bit of an oxymoron…

I'm guessing he and his management (much like Farah ) has been told he is surplus to requirements in 2017 and if he wants to play NRL he needs to find another club

He and his management probably found Manly and now Manly officials are waiting for WT's officials to return from Bali ,USA ,Europe etc on their undeserved holidays

Pascoe has been back from last Friday….Taylor never went OS...stop being a drama Queen....

Sarcasm was never your strong point

But shouldn't management be taking holidays during the finals series when they aren't required , not during some of the primest times to pick up off contract players of value

Probably time the club got on the front foot an made at least one announcement for 2017 if they have one to make

Xmas isn't that far away and for fans making decisions on what they may want from Santa , if they can see some hope they might decide to invest some hard earned in regards to memberships / jerseys etc

What if we had stumbled into the 8 and won the first final game only to find the CEO was overseas, this forum would go ballistic.
Try organising an overseas holiday at the last moment it's impossible, the best time would be just after footy finished and at that time we had a football manager.
Unless you think that Pascoe should work 52 weeks a year.

Steve if you think our roster is fine and the reason we are on struggle street year after year all comes down to coaching, than you need to get some medical help.

Our back row is light years behind the sharks, cowboys melbourne and canberra
our wingers are not in the class of most of the good sides
our centre's are mid table standard
our front row is mid table standard.

Like all clubs we have to make some quality recruitment. I agree our roster could and should be playing a lot better especially in defence but to say it is fine to me your way off the money, but hey we are all entitled to our option

Supercoach - I disagree with you.

Let's go through all your points one by one:-

Wingers:- Nofo is great. Rankin isn't a first grade winger and it's a critical position in the modern game. They finish tries and they stop tries and they get you metres like additional forwards. Nofo does all of this really well except for stopping tries but he is still quality.
Centres:- I reckon this is a strength for us compared to most other clubs. Kev's defence may be suspect but he has had a bunch of poor defenders around him.
Front row:- A massive strength. I'll even call it the middle forwards which consist of the lock as well. I think we have too many options here. Woods, Grant, Ava, Sue, ET, Felise & Aloiai are honestly a great set of middle forwards. Paseka looks like he could be anything as well. I think we are much better here than most teams in the comp.
Backrow:- this is a weakness. Lawrence is okay but not great. Aloiai has some good runs in him but I'm not sure he can defend out wide against quicker backrowers and centres. We definitely need someone to come on here or play Sue there.

I think we have a good roster that can compete with most teams in the comp.

We had a coach who the first year had us playing dud football. The second year he decided to make Robbie an issue and we were paying a quality SOO player to play reserve grade.

I'm not stating that the coach can't get the team to perform. I'm stating that he does stupid stuff that makes us underperform. He needs to stop that but I'm okay with giving him this year to get things right.

You also fail to mention our positives. Our spine especially if Liddle comes on could be anything. Speed and skill that other teams simply don't have. We have 2 of the best attacking centres in the game. We have a great front row and replacements for all of these spots and we should be able to get a roll on consistently.

If we had a gun winger and a gun backrower we really would be specials for a top 4 finish if we just looked at our squad. With the squad we have now we should be in the top 8.

Yes I actually like it when Taylor uses his Dark Lord of the Sith mind tricks to get the players to miss 50+ tackles a game complete at around 60% make 15+ errors and end on the wrong end of the penalty count most games we lose….

As a roster on a whole we are bottom to middle at best.....the positive is that it is improving with the more games they play....

Xmas period is the perfect time , as are the weeks leading up to trials

Once you know the WTs aren't in the finals and you do your end of season review , no reason you can't squeeze a couple of weeks in then either

Just saying the 6 weeks after seasons end is when off contract players start making decisions and clubs start planning rosters

Pascoe needs to sign off on deals , he needs to be here , when other clubs are talking about players who should already be signed , sealed and delivered it becomes a major concern

I agree with you on this happy… It's not hard to organise your overseas trips around Xmas when the player transfer market goes dead, and it's not impossible to organise overseas trips at the last minute.

Our prop rotation is above average Woods is probably Top 5 , Grant middle of the road

Our hookers are up in the air , how Liddle handles NRL and how Ballin returns from injury is crucial

Fullback is top notch

Wingers One good one way below par , but his utility value helps the team

Centres arguably one of the worst in the comp , defensively they are worst in the comp

Back row Bottom two or three , hopefully we will move Jesse permanently as I have asked for a few years now , as I said his edge running within the red zone could benefit both Brooks and Moses attacking options

Lock Assuming Taylor is going to sign ,he'd be a Top 8 lock , great work rate , good hands , creative , lacks some size , but the benefits outweigh the cons

Halves Moses is already in the Top 5 No 6's in the comp , his defence will continue to improve and I love the way he stays on his feet now in defence , means he slow a big fellas momentum and go low while a back rower finishes him off

Halves Brooks Jury is still out , probably hard when you don't have a great back row in attack and defence , but he needs to stay far more involved in games , my biggest issue with him is he doesn't take the line on at full speed enough , look at Newcastle game , perfect example , and the other bonus is your footwork at speed reacts far better in my opinion

Our bench is average

Overall we are below standard in some really key positions defensively and that is the problem and will always be the problem until fixed with new personnel

Potter let him play entirely differently to the way Taylor wanted him to play - and Taylor is Stringer's boss and told how to play him in reggies.
He's been coached to forget the things that made him different (and stand out) and play like a robot by Taylor.
And people wonder why he has a hard time getting his heart into it.
As long as Taylor remains he'd be better at a club that would let him play to his strengths and help him develop them.

What nonsense.

His job is to put his heart into his football every time he takes the field, under the instructions he's been given. If he can't do that, I don't want him at the club.

I don't complain when my boss assigns me difficult or annoying work - it's my job. Either I do it, or I stop complaining and find another line of work.

I'm just wondering what these things that Sirro could do that made him "different and to stand out " are CK ??

Nothing good that's for sure

Far from nonsense.

I recall Phil Gould's comments about the way Sironen was being used which is similar to what cktiger suggested. Also I recall Gould expressing dismay Sironen was not shifted to replace Moses at the 11th hour when Moses failed a fitness test immediately prior to the start of a game.

In any event, while the bar is at such a low level in terms of what we expect from our coach, WTs will continue to drift a long as a never was.

People should take Phil Gould's comments for what they are now

Phil's has his irons in the fires for Penrith first and foremost , rugby league comes a distant second now

Pretty much how I see it. There is a chance if we can keep them all together they will develop into a very good team, but that is going to take plenty of time and the recruitment of a couple of experienced winners

With our present roster we are always going to struggle to beat the teams with the big physical forward packs.Nothing has changed for a long time, when we come up against the rosters Canberra or any other teams who plays hard and direct we struggle. Our only chance if we get these teams early in the comp, but come mid season we are no chance. Backrow and centre's are the big issue
