Curtis Sironen released [Official p.40]

A lot of people want five players dropped every week or at least after a poor performance. The bottom line is you have a second tier cap issue when you start introducing new players to the top grade and without a crystal ball you never know when you are going to run into injury problems as the season progresses. So with that in mind you find that all coaches basically stick where the same players and very rarely drop players due to form and I guess when they do its also about having a player in the wings who can do a better job than the player your dropping.

In Siro's case I think it was all about his form and the form of others, I doubt there was anything sinister in it

Signed, Sealed and Delivered Curtis Sironen has signed with Manly Warringah Sea Eagles for 2017 and is waiting for a official release from the Wests Tigers.

:astonished:

Well they'll be waiting a while

The Wests Tigers are on annual leave , unlike many other clubs it appears :brick:

Doesn't make a lot of sense.
How can he be "signed, sealed and delivered" if Manly are still "waiting for an official release from Wests Tigers".
Sounds like a bit of an oxymoron…

Don't worry the tigers will jump at it and it will be rubber stamped when a settlement can be reached between the two clubs,I doubt Manly will take on his full contract, we will be asked to pay a bit, so I guess it will now come down to how much we are willing to pay.

Of course there is a slight chance that Siro is willing to for go his contract with us in order to get a real shot at FG with Manly and if that is the case we will not pay anything.

I'm guessing he and his management (much like Farah ) has been told he is surplus to requirements in 2017 and if he wants to play NRL he needs to find another club

He and his management probably found Manly and now Manly officials are waiting for WT's officials to return from Bali ,USA ,Europe etc on their undeserved holidays

I have no doubts we will be paying through the nose for him to play at manly. We are WT are and an easy mark. No matter what we want we will probably end up paying what manly want.

Sarcasm was never your strong point

But shouldn't management be taking holidays during the finals series when they aren't required , not during some of the primest times to pick up off contract players of value

Probably time the club got on the front foot an made at least one announcement for 2017 if they have one to make

Xmas isn't that far away and for fans making decisions on what they may want from Santa , if they can see some hope they might decide to invest some hard earned in regards to memberships / jerseys etc

As much as it would have been great to have the son of a former great player make a name for himself at the club, he just hasn't been able to produce the goods. Makes you wonder if he ever will be able to make a mark at NRL level. I saw him becoming a strong running backrower with a good offload and passing game but he 's never seemed to want it enough. I think if it means we can secure a deal with ET then I'm happy for him to move on.
Just on Aloiai and Edwards - I think that we need to persevere with both of them. Aloiai looked good at times and needs to find some consistency, while Edwards improved each week at the end there when he got a chance. He looks like he could be a tough bench alternative if he gets some hard hitting aggression into his game. Unfortunately we just don't have the quality80 min running second rowers that many of the top 8 teams have.

I totally agree Geo, it's going to take a few years to unravel the mistakes/ poor decisions of the previous management.
When you see Corey Parker on $200k for the last 3 years of his contract, it just shows how much we pay over some players worth.
This is why we need people with business acumen running the club instead of retired footballers.
Running a NRL club these days is no different to a business, and you need professionals to run the club.

We can't really be comparing our contracts with those of the Broncos. We are one of 9 teams, they have the city to themselves. They have such a significant geographical advantage especially for QLD-bred players.

I highly doubt Corey Parker would play for $200K for ANY Sydney club.

Not that Tigers don't have a lot of work to do in club management, just that a Broncos comparison will never really be fair, until they get 3 or 4 Brisbane sides running around in the NRL.

Course I don't SC, but as I said to Geo I think the club really needs some positive news asap after how our season ended

If we do have a few signings as some are suggesting , even releasing one of them would be good PR and business , especially with launch of the new memberships and with Xmas as close as it is

As we spoke about previously , if you look at 2017 with a fine tooth comb I wouldn't be putting too much dosh on us making the Top 8 with the current roster

Fans aren't fools , if they aren't going to get some news soon of a positive nature they aren't going to support the WT's with new memberships or increased sales of merchandise

Just my opinion …

Sirro mentally checked out mid way through last season, the sooner he is off the books the better. Too little too late. The improvement when he was demoted for et was significant.

Correct, because he hates JT…why?
Because his dad hates JT. They just dont get on...after JT moved senior on...its gone downhill from there.
Hardly professional behaviour...most can get on with the job and accept both bouquets and brickbats, those that cant are being removed

I don't want positive news stories. I just want to make the 8 next year. Our roster is fine. The coach is the issue as he has been the last 2 years.

Will we loose the younger brother Bailey if Curtis is heading to Manly

Firstly I doubt that this is true and secondly who cares.

We should always be thinking moneyball when it comes to recruiting players and we shouldn't care one little bit about who their brother is or their friends are.

Make good decisions consistently and we can have good results consistently. There is nothing wrong with our club including the roster and even the coach. Taylor has proven he has massive mistakes in him but we were firing at some points last season. If Taylor doesn't do anything stupid and we have a good run with injuries we can have a good season next season. If we make the right decisions consistently over the next couple of years we will be better off in the medium term.

I have no issues with Siro staying as well. I think he may come good. If we are honest though he hasn't come good yet and he has had plenty of chances. If he goes and turns into a top player I can live with the decision. It's not like letting Koro go and signing an ageing Richards.

You sound confident ??

You can take the same bet that Geo took that with our current roster (not including the possible signing of Idris or others ) that they will make the Top 8 if you like
