How are you in your home with your family?
Are we still hugging our kids... Are we kissing the missus?
Are you social distancing at home?

No social distancing at home, basically if someone in your homes gets it you all will anyway. Keep your home as normal as possible because outside your home is a whole new world!

100% trying to keep things at home as normal as possible. I have a 4 year old and he is pretty in tune that something is up. I worry if his preschool closes he may go months without interacting with other children and how that will affect him long term.

My work has said to work from home from tomorrow, I had already told my wife that I was doing my minimum hours and no more before they put that in place. Being with family is more important right now.

Yeah my daughter is 6 and is an only child. She is all over what is going on, I am also really worried how she goes without the interaction school gives her, she loves school and is so social, unlike me lol!

Only child here as well. He has cousins but don’t know if we will be able to see them as one sides mum has MS and the other cousins share a house with a 96 year old. Interesting times ahead for our young people, I hope that they come through okay mentally

Yeah my daughter has cousins as well but they live 4 hrs away in the country and live with my elderly parents so it is probably not a trip we can make. We were supposed to head up there for Easter and now that trip is probably off. I don't know how a 6 year old can go for up to 6 months with no contact with kids her own age!

Yep. I’m trying to get my head around that as well. How can kids be kids without others there own age? I’m really not sure how to address this

Me either, she has been asking me for an ipad for ages and I've always said no as I'm not a big fan of them for young kids but I've spent tonight researching them online as something as a distraction for the next few months. It's hard as her birthday is in June and she started planning it 2 months ago, writing out lists of who she wants to come.

Just try and keep them busy I guess, lots of arts and crafts etc!

We’ll work it out. There are a lot of great things on iPads the key is to be selective and engage in it with them so it doesn’t become a passive tool. Yep I think I’ll be hitting up play school for ideas

My daughter is much more creative than either my wife or myself, she constantly has craft ideas on the go. We are currently collecting egg packets for her to make a crocodile they made on the play school art show they have now. She spent all day yesterday making kites, no idea where that idea came from but that is my life lol

Love it. We made a cardboard guitar after he watched an episode of play school over lunch last week. Was a fun afternoon playing different songs for him to rock out to.

My daughter has always had great taste in music, her favourite song has always been Hungerstrike by Temple of the Dog, but her musical taste has started to sour in the last 6 months. Maybe I'll use the next 6 months to return her to the good music!

I’ve got Leo hooked on TOOL at the moment with superhero songs mixed in between.

Nice mate, I love little kids into heavy music. I bought my daughter a full on kids drum kit when she was 2 for Christmas lol.

Got a dog ?
Pets are great for the young ones .

She is terrified of animals, lol. I grew up on a farm and my daughter freezes if she see a dog 50mtrs away. Of course a kid in her class gets stung by a bee last week so with her heightened anxiety with all that is going on she now gets upset if she see a fly.

Its strange as she is very resilient in everything else, but just doesn't like animals. I tease her relentlessly and for a 6 year old she is very very good with the come back.

Get a pup ..
She’ll come good !

Might do that mate, thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it! I know we don't always see eye to eyes but its times like this we see the similarities we all have. We **are all in this together, the off season on here was so volatile maybe during this time we can all come together and use this site as a place of support for each other!**

That's what I hoped we could use this thread for

I live by myself, so we're one week in and I'm starting to get a little stir crazy. I know there are much more important things, but Rugby League on the weekends was one thing to look forward to.

Stay safe everyone!

Was talking to my wife earlier today about how this will be incredibly tough for people living alone. Keep your head up and keep making those videos, (as a teacher myself) I am sure they are bringing joy to someone’s day

We have a lot of teachers on here, I'm a teacher as well. Taking some time off at the moment to try and get my own business off the ground and this hits!

Timing. I know that feeling, did the same in 2008.

I work from home anyway so my workday hasn't changed, and as some of you know I work in drug research, so for us I am guessing that we are on the brink of an explosion of vaccine and antiviral (probably antibiotic) work. We (already) received our first COVID-19 trial request last week.

Our revenues will be shot to bits in 2019, because most non-essential trials are on hold, but hopefully the upcoming work over the next few years will cover the company's short-term losses. We are not expecting redundancies at this time. We have a hell of a job at the moment accounting for all the subjects already on drug trials and what we are going to do with them, and what the hospitals will permit us to do - it changes daily.

My thoughts go out to anyone whose job is at immediate risk, I can't begin to imagine that instant and unfair pressure on some Australians.

Started keeping my kids at home today as per Gladys - it's going to get old fast, they are young and they argue all the time. And they need a kick in the pants to play in the yard rather than watch TV all day.

My wife works in a hospital and is pregnant so she's the most at risk. I've been asking her to consider when she might stop work or stay home, but she feels a moral obligation to all the patients coming in for their chemo and other treatments. A bit of a forgotten population at the moment, the people who are immuno-compromised due to cancer treatment but cannot avoid coming in to hospital. If the hospitals are flooded it's not just corona sufferers at risk, it's all the other folks who rely on hospitals (under normal conditions) to stay alive.

I was able to buy pasta on Friday but for the life of me haven't seen a roll of toilet paper for some 4 weeks now.

Send an email via the contact information on the website and take a couple of screenshots to then send yourself. That way you will be able to receive payment backdated to this date. I am no expert, but had to deal with them last winter and it was like negotiating a minefield in my circumstances, but expect everything will go through unquestioned at this time.
I would suggest that you might want to put information such as your passport or birth certificate numbers, driver's licence state and number, Medicare card, plus banking BSB and Account numbers if there is an appropriate section.. That way they have all your details and hopefully will start a file for you.

Queue not as bad today to yesterday when I drove past Parra centrelink this arvo

Poor bastards have probably given up queuing

Actually Hobs Centrelink ask people not to go to the offices but go online through mygov….it crashed yesterday ….I got to start my application, but it asked for my Customer Reference Number...it was the only thing I haven't got so it kicked me out..I rang the phone number but was told we are inundated with calls atm call back later...here it is later ...Im still in the same place I was yesterday and no better off..

I think you need to physically go in to get a CRN. I guess I'll find out soon enough too!

They changed it today so you could do it over the phone!

Ok cheers, that's a few falsehoods you've pulled me up on now, I'll try not to keep making a habit of it!

Damn.......staying indoors sucks man....no 'decent' live sports to watch, limited food and/or money......most things are closed.....it's just, depressing

Buy yourself a chicken
You can eat the eggs
Then you just need to buy the bacon
If the chicken stops laying
Pull out the Axe an show it to the chicken
If it still doesn't lay eggs then use the Axe
