Sure they can and I have no dramas if anyone chooses not to eat meat.
When they start to preach about it though, I find it tiresome because there are so many holes in their self righteous pontifications that you can argue around in circles for days.
Instead, I just laugh. They can delude themselves in any way they see appropriate as long as they dont try to preach it to me.

I'm not a vegan but I find these comments funny. There is a tonne of data stating that a whole food plant based diet is extremely healthy. Anyone who believes a meat based diet is healthier is clearly uneducated.

There are holes in every diet except a vegan diet assuming it is whole food plant based.

@Spud_Murphy
One of my best mates daughter has very specific dietary needs. She's almost allergic to everything. There's no dramas meeting her needs at our house. Likewise when another mate and his family come around, vegetarians and vegans no problem.
With the looney fringe, (friends of my mates vegan wife) however I have had **my** dietary choices compared to cannibalism and been accused of getting an erection when I kill a chicken for dinner.
Normal? I say no.
Laugh?

100% there are holes in everything.....but the vitriol that these vegan bloggers cop when they have to go back the other way because the diet is unhealthy for them....it's like shaming Cersei.......they are vicious.
Some things work for some.....others work for others....but don't push your choices or agenda on others regardless of what they are because they will surely backfire in some form or other

I often laugh at guys at work who spend hours insulting vegans and always bring up these facts about how unhealthy it is to be a vegan.they seem to become Michelle bridges all of a sudden.
Most of these guys drink red bulls ,eat kfc and maccas 4/5 days a week 😂

This kills me. It happens all the time. The science is really pro eating foods like fruit and vegetables and eating minimal animal based foods.

I suppose you don't need to be vegan. It's more of an ethical debate but arguing that it is unhealthy is hilarious.

I'm not vegan. I eat meat all the time. I'm not into blogging and I don't think I've ever met a vegan.

The idea that some things work is cool but it's not really true when it comes to diet or maybe better put the science behind eating to avoid heart disease, cancer and other stuff. If you eat a healthy whole food plant based diet you have significantly lower risk in relation to developing a whole bunch of modern diseases.

The argument should really be about how much junk food, meat and animal based products you can eat and remain healthy. You can smoke a little bit and remain healthy. I think you can eat a lot of junk food and meat and remain healthy. The point is though that those foods are the foods that aren't healthy and you should eat them in moderation.

I agree....but these days you aren't allowed to disagree with the perceived moral high ground of some lunatics. A little bit of everything is a good balance.

I don’t especially know of any vegans who preach, but I’m sure there would be some. However, I do know a lot of meat eaters who do. Refusing to acknowledge a person’s dietary needs after they were told about it and still putting meat on their plates because they just can’t accept someone having a diet that doesn’t contain meat protein.

They get very offended if you say your a vegan or vegetarian when you go to dinner with them. Seen and experienced it first hand, their behaviour is appalling and very hard to comprehend. I don’t know why people can’t just accept that some people don’t want to eat animals. You’d think we’d molested children the way some of them have carried on.

Friends of mine became vegan a couple of years ago and they went from zero to militant 100 in the blink of an eye. We were destroying the world while the vegans were the sole source of light amongst all the climate destruction.....
The problem I have is that all of a sudden every time we went out, it needed to be to a vegan restaurant and everything else was just disgusting and disgraceful. It's all well and good to have their choices met, but when it came to ours it was frowned upon and commented on.
It was a shame because my mate could slow cook brisket, made amazing pizzas etc.....but literally the next day it was "try a vegan tim tam it's exactly the same".......it wasn't even close.....

I guess it works both ways then. My experience copping it from meat eaters is very real too.

**Vegans outraged over Bunnings sausage sizzle benefiting firefighters**
Yahoo News Australia Yahoo News Australia
14 November 2019

Vegans have hit out at Bunnings for hosting a nationwide sausage sizzle to benefit firefighters battling bushfires across the country.

One outraged woman took to social media on Wednesday to criticise the hardware chain’s decision.

“Why oh why are people selling sausages to raise money when it’s known that meat is a contributing factor to climate change?!” she said.

“Which is a contributing factor to these fires?! It honestly baffles my mind and makes me so sad. It’s a heartbreaking cycle.”

The divisive post quickly drew attention, with many readers siding with the woman.

“Just throw some thoughts and prayers and ignore the actual problem,” one person said.

“I agree, to be honest,” a second chimed in.

Others, however, said she was missing the point.

“Sorry what? There is nothing they can do about the sausages already produced but they can sell them to raise funds for fire fighters who are actually facing the real fires happening right now…” one woman wrote.

“Right now, helping those fighting the fires is more dire than fighting the meat industry for climate change.

“Nothing is idea, but bringing climate change into a sausage sizzle to raise money helping those saving the country from the immediate threat - really?” she said.

Four people were killed and numerous homes have been lost as dozens of fires ripped through NSW’s Central Coast over the past week.

Queenslanders have been urged to flee their homes as more than 70 blazes continue to burn in the state’s south.

According to the World Resources Institute, replacing one-third of beef consumption with other meats or legumes could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent by 2050.

Reducing beef consumption by 70 percent could reduce emissions by 35 percent.

A Bunnings spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia the nationwide sausage sizzle will be hosted from 9am to 4pm and funds will benefit “communities impacted by drought and bushfires.”

“Bunnings team members will be getting behind the BBQ with every cent raised going to GIVIT, who assist communities in times of disaster and recovery.

“GIVIT’s national presence aids local communities all over Australia by working closely with charities, community groups and councils to ensure that support is directed where it’s needed most.

“Customers who don’t wish to purchase a sausage can still donate in-store on the day,” the spokesperson said.

@Geo
It is my understanding that the most dangerous part of a sausage sanger at Bunnings is in fact the ONION!

@Geo One thing I don't like is all the stuff that is attributed to climate change. The fires we are having now are a classic example. These fires are terrible but blaming these fires on climate change is another trip to bizzaro world.

I am concerned about the use of fossil fuels in cooking the sangers on a BBQ. They should take advantage of the current unfortunate conditions and just tie a few cows to trees and there would be enough meat to feed an army.
