Can someone please post the West’s Tigers 2022 Preview article from today. Thanks

. The Tigers have not strung three wins together since early in 2018 and have not won four straight games since 2012. This year they won back to back matches just twice, and one of those was against the Bulldogs and Cowboys.

Bloody hell!

Unfortunately theres nothing in thisDT article thats arguable, damning that it is.
When a team spends a quarter of its salary cap this year on Packer/Mbye/Joey /Reynolds (50%)and Tamou...and get very little back in return...were not gonna do so great
And next year were doing exactly the same with Noffa/Brooks /Mbye(50%)plus Joffa...all at ridiculous $$..dont be surprised that were bottom two.
We just waste our cap on over-rated "name"players
And btw...none of these senior guys has a skerrit of much needed leadership in them
Hoping that Hastings is the revelation DT mentions..and I think he'll go ok
Nothing else to look fwd to in 2022

Nobody knew this before we signed them well maybe the exception
of Mbye.
All these players were much much better
at times before coming to us.

First forum post of 2022 🤘 yay me!

?

Some well well past their best by date(Reynolds/Packer/Tamou).....some were significantly over hyped(Mbye /Joffa..).and some just rejected the coach and culture and decided not to put in(Packer/Joey L)
Its the latter trait that fits several of our recent re-signings(Brooks and Noffa)too
But net net,our most highly paid senior players who shld be leading us on and off the field this year and next, with few exceptions just havent come close to delivering to their pay grade..its like a reverse moneyball, and the diametric opposite to a Easts or Storm,Panthers and Rabbits
Im hoping Hastings /Papeete /Gildart and Api will reverse this trend..all still in their peak yrs and know and accept the culture theyre walking into
Plus Sheens will help shape that culture to acccount for individual eccenticities but importantly focus on outcomes..aka "wins"
But he aint got much to work with in 22,and Im not optimistic

Packer Reynolds. Mbye were all mid/ late 20s... Not past use by
Tamou was on fire before he came here
Hindsight is great

Packer and Reynolds(SOO 2014) were well on the slide by the time we got them....faciliatted by a desperate situation when the big 3 departed.
we paid full ask.Got little out of any of em
Tamou cldnt make the 2020 run on team at the Panthers...but we paid a modest sum accordingly hoping hed bring some much needed leadership.
He didnt
He wont make the run on WTs side this yr if Musgrave is fir
Mbye was a myth that promised a lot but delivered little, that we simply got stuck with...and Joffa wasnt far behind tbh.He was never SOO level without his surname, and his last couple of years at Broncos were flaky.Just lazy.Like Joey
WTs lacked foresight not hindsight, and an ability to resist name players that are on the slide or overpriced ,altho circumstances limited our options
Im hoping Hastings,Papalli and Api will start a new era.Rite age,and top tier players.Need more of em ...fast!

The big question is whether Maguire can create cohesion between the players and a gameplan that they follow. They were a complete rabble last season, especially in the second half of the season.

I don't see the point of this comment from the DT - the money spend on 2021 cap is no longer relevant and Tigers, as a prime example, have cleared almost all that backlog.

Exactly. Apart from Nofo getting 4 years every signing in last two years has been astute. Yes Tamou didn't do that well but he's only on 350k over two years. Previously we would of given him 4 years at 600k.

We are not going to make the finals in the near future but at least we are not paying overs

Packer was coming off his best ever season and was killing it for the Kiwis when we got him - he was not on the slide at all until he started with us. Tamou started for the Panthers in the grand final in 2020 (and most of the season) . We're a bad enough team with a bad enough history without inventing false details.

Even if we are only paying Tamou 350k a year, he played like a 150k player. It's not only the recruitment that has sucked, it's the poor culture and environment. Are we certain this has been rectified?

May not be entirely possible for Madge to unlock the full potential of every single individual (in the team) however in addition to wanting to see more cohesion, I'd love to some other hidden talent/strengths come to the forefront. Out of all our players last season, Seyfarth surprised me the most with his desire and ability to uplift his teammates.
It would be fantastic to unmask a skilled team manager/visionary type from within our ranks over the next couple of years.

Can't see anything incorrect about that article. Fancy having Kepaoa and Gildart starting in the centres, what an absolute disaster...

The problem is many good hands make the work lighter but if you have only say 5 good players in the team they get burnout fast or just give up ....

The Tigers need to buy some solid workmen to plug the holes and then go big on a star

Go get 3 or 4 workmen that perform each week not overly flash but solid like a Cory Thomson

Just the dt setting up a narrative for the season. Expect the sack Madge hire Flanagan rhetoric to build over the season

Gildart will go well. I'm excited to have him at our club.
