Does anyone know for sure we have signed Daine Laurie for 2022 and not just the rumours..
Maybe I am just scarred but have a bad feeling another club will come in late and pouch on him from under our nose.. I would like us to sign him and even announce and then work on the 2021 early release.

Jonesy ...I think your on Laurie Watch ...good luck

No Worries.... Day 1 Watch Done
As all signed and delivered .... NEXT :grinning: :grinning:

We should have had you on JAC watch!

Maybe you can go on Taumalolo watch?

And Munster ,Crichton x 2 , Grant , Welch , Papalii , Papenhuyzen , DCE , Fifita ...for starters

Penrith forum poster advising Laurie's picture taken down from site. Also that of another player taken down Jermaine Hopgood. I am not sure if this means much?

The only reason why Penrith would let him go is development contracts.

They won't though because he is a skilled kid, and should they need him from round 16 onward he will be useful to them.

I hope we can negotiate a release, but if not, I would expect Laurie to fulfil his contract the way we are expecting Aloiai to.

Thats it, if they find another kid they want to develop im sure they would pick him up over keeping someone else whose future is committed elsewhere.

Hoping not expecting a release

They must be trying to do a deal to swap Mbye to get the kid here next year surely?
Ivan rates Mbye and it'd be an Origin player for a development kid.
Subsidise if you have to.........Please!

No club is stupid enough to take Mbye on...oh wait...

I see what you did there, Ivan did it once, maybe will again

Panthers really should release him. He is not a vet demanding out. He is a kid who won't play and at 21 its an important year to develop.

Stefano was 19.

Laurie is 21 and it is unprofessional if they block his development at that age.

0 gain for them releasing him a year early. Can understand why they wouldn’t do it

He's only on a development contract at Panther's though which means not even they can use him till around round 16.

Exactly he’s on minimum wage so not like it frees up cap for them so why would they help us

They wouldn’t . But maybe they’d help the kid. Say what you will , but Gus would have released him.

That is so true.

Gus would have said 'here is a young man who is 21 and will be 22 before a release...with a chance to play NRL each week and to develop as a player and a person. I can't offer him that....you can go son'

For all his flaws, Gus always had the player's best interests at heart.

Penrith have Dylan Edwards and Charlie Staines as full back options. They should let Laurie leave now.

They also need money to upgrade some of their players like Yeo, Staines, etc.

One question - If Sauce can't find another club in 2021 can he stay at Penrith play Reserve Grade and collect his reported $500,000?

Couple of indigenous boys at the club now. Might make it a bit more encouraging for JAC for 2022. If Roberts comes good our outside backs for 2022 are going to be straight fire lol.

1. Laurie
2. JAC
3. Roberts
4. Talau
5. Nofoaluma

Problem?

There’s plenty of tries in that bunch provided roberts behaves, I maintain our forwards are still very unproven or average apart from LL.

Staines is their first choice winger by the looks of it so it’s smarter for them to have another fullback option.

Souths released Bayley Sironen a year early as he signed a long term deal with warriors, they didn’t want to stand in his way..... looks like some clubs are nice after all!

Souffs have never been nice since they started over 100 years ago.

Unless, we take Mansour if they give us Laurie?

Every other club releases players from their final year contract to take up another deal..Rabbits let Sirro go to the warriors today, yet no club releases player to join the Tigers.....???

How about LL and JL as second row partners.....could work

Joey Leilua is not a forward. Repeat after me. Joey Leilua is not a forward. Keep repeating until it sinks in.

The extra work of having to carry an extra number on his back might be a bridge too far lol

Yeah I don’t think his work ethic suits the forwards, early ball in the centres or bust
