Does anyone know for sure we have signed Daine Laurie for 2022 and not just the rumours..
Maybe I am just scarred but have a bad feeling another club will come in late and pouch on him from under our nose.. I would like us to sign him and even announce and then work on the 2021 early release.

The only reason why Penrith would let him go is development contracts.

They won't though because he is a skilled kid, and should they need him from round 16 onward he will be useful to them.

I hope we can negotiate a release, but if not, I would expect Laurie to fulfil his contract the way we are expecting Aloiai to.

Thats it, if they find another kid they want to develop im sure they would pick him up over keeping someone else whose future is committed elsewhere.

Panthers really should release him. He is not a vet demanding out. He is a kid who won't play and at 21 its an important year to develop.

Stefano was 19.

Laurie is 21 and it is unprofessional if they block his development at that age.

0 gain for them releasing him a year early. Can understand why they wouldn’t do it

Gus would have said 'here is a young man who is 21 and will be 22 before a release...with a chance to play NRL each week and to develop as a player and a person. I can't offer him that....you can go son'

For all his flaws, Gus always had the player's best interests at heart.

They also need money to upgrade some of their players like Yeo, Staines, etc.

One question - If Sauce can't find another club in 2021 can he stay at Penrith play Reserve Grade and collect his reported $500,000?

Staines is their first choice winger by the looks of it so it’s smarter for them to have another fullback option.
