STATEMENT REGARDING DAINE LAURIE
Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Wests Tigers today stood down Daine Laurie from all club activities pending a police investigation.

This decision has been made by the club’s board after Daine Laurie was charged with common assault by NSW Police over a domestic incident that occurred late on the evening of 15th September 2009.

“The board has made the decision to stand Daine Laurie down for an indefinite period,” said Wests Tigers CEO, Stephen Humphreys.

“There is a need to allow the proper legal processes to run their course but we also believe standing Daine down is the appropriate course of action considering the best interest of all parties concerned.

“The club is working with authorities on the matter and is committed to providing support and counselling to all parties.

“The club enforces a strict code of conduct for all of its employees and is totally opposed to any action that places the health, safety and wellbeing of any individual in jeopardy.”

The club will not be making any further comment at this time

Well…..interesting times ahead for Laurie....

Shame.....

I'm liking Humphrey's style.....

What an idiot. Guess he'll get the chop now.

That's one less prop for next year. Maybe we will sign a winger to cover?

This will get interesting. Its obvious we will cut him from our squad as we should
but will the NRL ban him from joining a rival club??

I'm absolutely sick of hearing this type of crap from all sports stars… but league in particular this year...

I say sack him... Wests Tigers are a club that has been a clean skin for a long time & need to have a 'no dickheads' policy...

I like watching Daine play as do most tigers fans but we cannot have this type of crap... especially when we are on the lookout for a major sponsor.

I think this pretty much sums up his commitment to the NRL.

Im sure this won't be his first time before the courts so this could get ugly.

If he wasn't already,he is now gone, ohh well we don't need players who are not fully commited.

That concludes a bitter end to the Tigers season, and possibly Laurie's NRL career. :frowning:

Guys there is such a thing as a presumption of innocence.

Wests Tigers have acted appropriatley considering charges have been laid but until guilt or innocence is determined by a court than the situation is at a stalemate in regard to any club action.

Daine has the right to a presumption of innocence the same as any one of us has

The upside is that WT have full control of the story thus far.

Wire sources are pretty much quoting the club press release verbatim at this point

I'm not condoning Dain's behaviour if he is found guilty but it will be interesting to see the NRL's stand given that this incident is almost identical to Inglis.
