its a shame he missed folksey's boat.

So true. How we couldn't find rental property for him in Concord is beyond me. With players like him, it is institutionalised within them to have a lack of organisation and accountability. You have to bring them to training every day until something in them breaks and they realise the importance of it all.

I read that article about missing training already 4 times and I could not believe it. A very very non existant almost (or perhaps orchestrated?) Assault incident against his defacto and whammo he goes from getting under $50K a season to $150K. Then the allegation of assault is dropped because it can not be proved (Daine called the police to report his defacto had assaulted him) and he gets arrested when they arrive :unamused: . That rightly gets dismissed but WT release Daine.

He really needs to knuckle down or he will be in big trouble and his life not his career, but his life will go down the gurgler.

Take note Daine, its now or never.

Do you ever get bored of patronising people with your posts?

Who am i patronising ?

Bryce Gibbs lives in Campbelltown. So did Gallant. Royce Simmons lives out at Penrith. They still made it to training every day. No excuse.

They are not in the category of people I am talking about. Some people need to be spoon fed before they can do it themselves. I class Laurie as being in that category.

Why the 1 year AVO….that's right ........they just give those out in all cases that go to court....stock standard.... :unamused:

Why haven't Penrith done what you suggest Bug....it's a fair trek from Parra to Penrirh.....

It's OK to lay into the Club for not doing right by Daine?....seriously?

How many other players in our squad should get Special treatment? Benji not included....

Um , yes, AVO's are MANDATORY. Obviously he did not choose to fight it as it makes no impact on him.

Maybe Penrith might some how move him closer now ??? who knows?

I am not laying into the club for not doing the right thing by Daine, what I am suggesting is that they should have identified these issues with him and had a plan to deal with them. Not having a plan to deal with the issues when they arise is not good. I am not blaming the club, because it is clear that they put the onus and responsibilty directly back on Daine laurie for him to figure out himself, and it is clear he is not at a point in his life that he is capable of doing that.

In the 2009 pre-season we heard that his pre-season was hampered by family matters !! well it looks like it still is. Is it the case that he does not want to get flogged in the heat like every other NRL player is now ? For the WT to release him they must have thought that the effort to put him on track would have been too difficult. The team or people that do will reap the benefits. Sometimes you have to go out of your way are give them 'special treatment' as you call it, and then if they learn the discipline they then apply that themselves. If they do not learn then see ya later.

I agree with you in alot of what you are saying.

Arana Taumata is an interesting case. How many clubs has he been sacked from now ? We give him his 6th chance. Its interesting. His dismissal from clubs is a direct result of serious violence directed at a variety of different people over a variety of different times.

Daine Laurie's is not. Daine just does not go to training. If a club can overcome that with him and flog him at training they will reap the benefits.

Doesn't Beau live in the gong? If he can make it to training every day, then anyone can.

Mate he's no superstar, and never ever will be..he's lazy and goes walkabout far too often..i wouldn't feed him, thats for sure..

When he grows up he may well be a superstar - potential is there.
I for one however am a bit sick of the ''tomorrow'' attitude thats been prevalent at WTs, good to see we seem to be finally getting a ''today'' attitude.

He also stays at Farah's place a bit during the week as the commute can be a bit of a grind.

Im glad he is gone, i would much rather us put the time into one of our youngsters comeing through. He does have potential but whether or not he will ever forfil it is and was always up to him.

Personally I'm glad Daine is gone, came onto the scene strong, but suffered epic second year syndrome, and basically dropped right off. Other teams worked him out and he was a huge liability.

Had cause to be in Penrith this morning. Driving past Panfa Park the rest of the team was deep in skills session. No Daine. Drive 1km down the road and he was slowly making his way from the train station toward the ground. It made me laugh

Hilarious. No doubting the right decision was made.

You blokes are like a pack of vultures pecking out the eyeballs off a dead carcass..

So let me get this right….its OK for you and others to constantly berate WT recruitment and retention for players let go if they show a glimmer of promise but if it is clearly demonstrated that they have got it 100% correct such as in the case of Daine being set adrift, then it is "picking off a dead carcass?"

Hmmm double standards

Glenn

And i was watching him running around in state cup, ;like a chook with its head cut off. send him to union, i think he'd be more suited to that game..

Giving life advice to footballers. If you know the bloke personally then ok, but if you are Mr Public like me, what can you claim to know about Laurie and his personal circumstances?
