Starting his own topic because it is needed..

Surely after another quality 1st half people understand we need to get a player like this to help our defensive structure and someone that doesn't care about just offence like our current team..
Clearly these young guys we have need help and the longer they play like this it will harm them long term.

I hope we go all in for him as we have the money with packer moving on and I would offer 3 year 650k.

Lets do this..

His price just went up a little more I would think after been called into the NSW 17 and classed as a current SOO player.
Hope the so called recruitment meeting today went ahead and someone is actually going to do something.

Doesnt matter who we get,the young ones need as much NRL experience they can get so they can further their careers....the older NRL players in our squad really need to have a good hard look at themselves....Finucane is a classy player and I admire his attributes,BUT he cant do it on his own......

I see there are about 8 clubs chasing him now.... You snooze you lose as they say..
Cannot be that bad of player if this many clubs are interested.

Probably 14 clubs chasing him or have enquired ...some like us got laughed at

Roosters on a shorter term won't surprise me

Then he come to us

Unfortunately that sounds spot on....

A player like him won’t put a dent in us.

I agree with this. He would add something to an already strong unit but for us he wouldn't do much. Would be a huge chunk of cash for very little upside.

We have to start somewhere ....Finucane on 3 years would be a good signing .....you could sign Haas ,Klemmer , RCG , AFB , Taupau , the Penrith hyphen, Yeo and not much would change ...but it would be a starting point ...next season another quality forward and then you start talking about a pack that can at least hold its own

Does he have 3 years of good footy left in him? Not so sure. I'd rather sign someone in their prime but am happy to be proven wrong.

Winning Fixes Everything,

Recruitment, Attitude etc

Got some good young players that need some old heads to help get those 50/50s across the line. Changes a season

Probably ......sure we can find a way to medically retire him ....

If we can get him great. We should at least try. Whilst Tamou has not been a full 80 minute prop, he is still useful on the interchange and his experience along with Finucanes would be a good base to cement our pack together. I'd make Finucane captain as he is an 60- 80 minute player.

Maybe make a deal (in the contract so its legit and no-one can complain) for the later years he wants to go into the coaching side if needed to offset failing health / body if it comes about?

But we need to gte those old hands/heads asap

These kids keep playing in teams that get flogged and it will do so much harm to their careers and our recruitment / retention

He is 30 and still paying SOO footy so 3 years I would not have a problem with at all.
We all know he would not come in and then we are an instant top 4 team but he would be a great start. The main reason I want him is to set a standard on and off the field and help develop all these young kids we have. As a club we are working overdrive to set the structures from the juniors up and recruiting ex players and coaches to make that happen but at the end of the day you need some leaders in the team they can actually learn the trade off. By all reports in media and Ex-Players he is the ultimate professional and doesn't skip any step to be a winner.. He is basically asking the same money packer has been on for 4 years and for me I would have him every day over Packer etc.. Add to that he will help attract other players.
But I personally thing we have left it too late as a lot of clubs are now interested in him (for good reason) so our chances are very low... We were too busy flying up to Brisbane when we should of been pouncing on it.

His on field will improve our defence, no question. He's ok in attack but nothing special. So what you're paying overs for, is his leadership. But will that translate to other players? Tamou has apparently been a great influence on the younger players but we're playing worse since he arrived, and he's playing poorly.

If we are all in for Finucane we can't complain when he comes here and is a disappointment. It's a huge risk that we have to be prepared to take (i'm not)
