I reckon Laurie gets a bit of a bad wrap for his time as coach.
He had to contend with a hugely hard to beat opposition and went ok.

2013 series - 1-1 going into the decider, he lost in game 3 by two points
2014 series he won by game 2
2015 series he lost in game 1 by a field goal and NSW dominated game 2. Game 3 was a blowout, but the series could have been over again after game 2.
2016 series he lost by 2 in game 1 in Sydney before both squads won each of the following games. A score of 4-6 was the difference
2017 series he smashed us in QLD but lost game 2 at home... again by 2 points.

Sliding doors on a couple of moments and not dropping games at home and he was a success. Only the one proper flogging and usually competitive.

I remember seeing a couple of his interviews weeks before ordering Origin 1 and thought this guy is clueless.

Then game 1 happened

Billy slater completely out coached him with a much inferior team.

2020, 2022 and now 2025.. QLD had no right winning these series

Bellamy has been right beside him the whole series.
We out played them the first game. The second game we got hammered in the penalty count in the first half and ended up losing due to poor conversions and third we got outplayed.
There is never much between the sides in any of the series but QLD seems to come out in top in the closet ones

Hudson Young might be the best second rower in the comp and you play him in the middle with 25 left? Robson starts going well and you hook him when you could just put Watson on at lock when we need points?

The talent disparity we had made this inexcusable. Deadset the only way we could lose was if they jumped to an early lead and we'd have to be more enterprising to peg them back. Exactly what happened lol. Really unforgivable from Daley.

We beat them by 12 in the first one they beat us by 12 in the third and in the second we scored more tries and lost by 2. Really not much in it and usually never is.
