If teams above us on the ladder are willing to pay him good money, maybe we should take that as a hint.

Exactly. Starting to doubt WT concept of good value. I hope we’re not just benchmarking based on media hearsay. What’s Teddy’s worth for example? Is it a million dollars like he’s on or are the Rorters getting twice that? Jake Turbo is another, don’t care how much they’re paying him, he’s giving them good value. The real trick is picking the guys who will go out and play the lights out. Then you get a deal done.

People are scarred because whoever we’ve paid overs for hasn’t worked out. It’s fine to pay big money for players as long as they’re actually worth it. I like the fact we won’t pay overs for players, but it doesn’t help when we’re trying to sign big name players. Understand their approach though there’s a fine line there

I agree. So now we have a confidence issue and a brand issue. Makes it hard to compete.

Part of building a brand is retaining talent whilst building a culture. I agree we shouldn’t pay overs but we should recognise and pay our talent what they deserve.

Maybe if we did that on both accounts, players like Teddy, JAC and Pap would still be here.

The best way of building a brand is winning on the field. Do that and everything thing else is insignificant. You cannot do that by continuing doing what Wests Tigers have in the past and that is pay players overs and totally screw the salary cap, ending up with an unbalanced team.

Cleary screwed us, no doubt about it, but it’s not like we’ve been cellar dwellers over the last 10 years, however for some reason we still can’t attract genuine talent.

That comes down to coin and culture.

Culture not coin

It’s both mate, players don’t signup for halftime oranges

But we offered Tedesco top dollar as well as Latrell and JAC ..
Why didn’t they sign ?

Like I said it’s both.

We have one of the biggest fanbases nationally but we also have one of the worst perceptions as a destination club.

The COE when finished will help, and Madge is slowly changing that perception but he needs to get some runs on the board - we need to make the 8 this year so that the coin we have attracts talent and helps build a winning culture.

Agree wholeheartedly. Madge needs a top line fullback and second rower to fall from the clouds and appear at training in the next few weeks.

Yeah and tigers might fly.

But in all seriousness we have a team that can crack the 8 as long as we plug our leaky defence. Our squad definitely has points in it, so there’s no more excuses.

As I sort of said, I think we’re only 2 players short of being in the mix.

we get a quality 11 and 1 and I might agree with you ....all gonna come back to how well Brooks plays ....simples

Are we offering 3 year at 600k ? If so I would snap that up if I was him as i don't think he is worth anything over 500k max..

If (MASSIVE IF) that is true, that is not a stalemate at all. See ya Nofo, thanks for the memories.

Just been offered $1.2m

Over 3 years

Before anyone takes it too far, my post was a joke lol

I realised that

Joke or not, I’d be surprised if Nofa stays at WT

Wests Tigers can’t make him stay if he doesn’t want to. If he goes, he goes. I’d be slightly disappointed in Nofa if he goes, not the club.

We shouldn’t be trying to make him stay. It’s the role of the club to make an appropriate offer and then have an alternative solution lined up should he walk, I’ll judge the club based on this. Too often we tend to fail twice.

Agree ... I think we have advised him what we have on the table and its a take it or leave it offer.. After all our offseason moves and not paying overs I trust the powers at the club to not overpay..

That’s step one HSV. So when he takes up a more lucrative deal do you trust the club to replace him with a like for like replacement? I don’t.

I do

Who you got in mind Cochise? And has he played more than 10 NRL games yet?

My faith is more in the job that is being done by the likes of Hartigan, I have faith that he will pull the right reins. We also have some players coming through in the next 12-18 months who may be able to make the step up, players like Kei will be pushing for 1st grade spots in 12 months time.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out, if we’re still waiting for young guys to pull us out of the dumps in 18 months that’s probably curtains for Madge. Then what?!

Where did I say we will be doing that?

I asked who would fulfil Nofs role and you gave me Kei in 12-18 months, not sure everyone has your patience mate.

If Nofo doesn't re-sign we will have plenty of cap space, hopefully a better club culture, with just over a year to replace him. Why stress about it now?

Haha well u didn’t answer the question then, say noffa left right now, would you back the club to have a like for like replacement lined up? That was my original point which you disagreed with.

He is not leaving right now, that is the point. My answer is I don't need to tell you who our like for like replacement is, because I have faith in the guy whose job it is to sort that out. I have already told you that and because I included a couple of options you cherry picked that from my answer. That is not how you win discussions with me.

That is actually not what I said at all, way to cherry pick. Even if that was my point Nofa is here until that point so there would be no waiting.

I’m not trying to win or lose mate, my opinion is my opinion based on wanting to watch Wests tigers win football games. No more no less.

Then you probably shouldn't cherry pick my answer to suit your argument.

If Nofo doesn't re-sign we will have plenty of cap space, hopefully a better club culture, with just over a year to replace him. Why stress about it now?

You’re assuming he doesn’t agitate for an early release (we know about that) and our poor form in recruitment of star players suddenly changes, I’m not so confident on either front.

Again you're stressing over a hypothetical worst case scenario. In the unlikely event he does push for a release, I'd like to think we'd take the same path as we did with Aloiai and push for a favourable outcome.

And I answered with that it wasn't so much players as I had faith in Hartigan, I did mention Kei as an aside and that was all you focussed on. As I said I don't need to know who it may be as that is Hartigan's job and he is very good at it.
