Straight swap Noffa for Fergo, yes or no?

no

Fergo has a better body of work whereas noffa had a really good year, Fergo probably has some baggage, I’m on the fence.

It doesn't improve our squad

Think it would start our sets better tbh

So would Mansour but I would be reluctant to take him either.

One of the key metrics we need to improve is total yardage, now both Fergo and Mansour would probably improve that but in your option you also lose by the subtraction of Noffa who is also pretty strong in that department.

Huge no to Mansour, couldn’t catch a cold

I would take Mansour on a team friendly deal as part of a package to get Laurie for 21.

.....mmmmmm....close....but no.....only because Noffa is 27 and Fergo is 30.

Yeah age plus Fergo had started to get injuries, you’re probably right

The age would be a worry for me as well, I am more forgiving of a poor season from a 25 year old, with a 30 year old is that bed season a permanent deterioration instead of one bad year is the question that raises concerns for me.

Yeah I can definitely see your point. Could also see Fergo bouncing back to his best though. If Noff decides to leave I could live with that outcome. On a max 2 yr deal.

When we played parra this year,I thought he was acting strange after scoring a try.....Like
he didn't want to score against them....I thought something was up.....Now hearing this..
I'll go to parra....WTF who says that about that at this point...and why parra nofa?

I’ve read some pretty ridiculous things on this forum and this is well up there

Go watch round 11.

I watched Round 11 highlights against the eels which was another game that got away from us last season.
I saw your prior post although your entitled to your thoughts here is what i gauged with his performance.

Rushed up exposed badly by opposite winger and scored upon.
Scored a try was non col-ant about it i think he was more referring to his opposite that this try was just as easy as one scored against him prior or his try he beat him for pace.
(Did not really read anything into it but was a strange look)

He also went missing for large parts of the game and never really did any in field runs to try and get his hands on the ball.
As i stated prior it normally scores the bulk of his tries against weaker opposition.

The issue is at his age you don't know, so you have to be more cynical when working out what you are willing to invest in him.

I am confident that we will retain Noffa especially considering we have the veteran allowance to play with. As for Brooks’ satisfying the allowance, the way I read it he has to have played 8 years of NRL as well as being a junior at the club.

That is not correct

The Veteran Allowance as was given in an earlier post is as follows:

$0.2 million – Veteran and Developed Player Allowance for eligible players who were either developed by the Club prior to becoming NRL players and / or have been a Top 30 player for at least 8 years at the Club or have been a Top 30 player for at least 10 years across the game.

My interpretation is that in order to receive the $200k for a player who has been developed by the club, the player has to have been in your top 30 for 8 years, or 10 yrs across the game. If this is not correct then the alternate is that a club gets $200k for every player developed by the club prior to playing NRL???
How do you read it?

A player has to have been at the club for 8 years, which can include flegg if the player has been at the same club all that time.
And it's 200k total for the club, not per player. We have Brooks who could take 100k and Nof the other 100 or Brooks could take all 200k

meanwhile in attack he was:

9th in run metres (3285m) - Mansour was 2nd with 3713 but played two more games
7th in Line breaks (19) - behind Sivo, b. morris, s.katoa, JAC, AJ & tedesco
4th in tackle breaks (112) - only ponga, cotric, and tedesco above him
4th in tries scored (17) - below crichton feldt and johnston
and 5th in amounts of runs (370)

So all you people talking stats and elite wingers etc etc... what more proof would you like?

If your point is that he is pretty good, kinda middle of the road, Im with you.

He's in the top 5 or 10 in the entire comp in some stats and you think he's middle of the road? That doesn't make much sense.

Haha exactly

He's far from middle of the road. There's at least 20 to 30 outside backs behind him in those stats

Well given there are 4 x 16 "outside backs" in the comp, 30 would put his smack in the middle of the road. 20 behind him would mean he is not even middle of the road.

Im not saying he is a not a good player. He is. "Middle of the road" is probably underselling him. He would probably be top 10, I can think of 8 wingers better than him but top 10 out of 32 wingers isnt far off MoR.

He is apparently currently getting $450K pa. Not worth a cent more IMO.

Thanks for the maths lesson, the reality is if he leaves this club wouldn't be able to acquire anyone better, so let's just hope that doesn't happen

We have juniors. A replacement will not be as experienced but he may be faster, a better defender, runs the ball back equally as hard as Nofoaluma and is much cheaper.

That is hilarious. Neither Tommy, AJ or Reece Hoffman play to 50% of nofas capacity, how do U think any of the juniors below them will do much better? Usually takes a few years for wingers to really hit their straps

Why does it have be those three? We have other very good young players. He's not due to depart until end 2021. My support of WTs is not dependent upon Nofoaluma being at the club. Koroibete, JAC and Simona were far better players than him and they have all departed.

Its those 3 as they're the ones that played this year

My supports not dependant on him either, but I would be mad if he left, the same as people are mad that Tedesco is no longer with us

I have no issue with him leaving, If he wants more $ than the WTs will pay, he can leave. WTs have many good young players to fill the gap. That is the exciting part about it, he goes and we get to see our junior development in motion.

Haze Dunster demonstrated really good pace, evasion and defence when he made his cameo appearance. If a swap were contemplated, he is the player I'd be seeking. He's a Kiwi so would feel at home at WTs and fits our profile for recruiting good young players on the cusp of the NRL.

No mate Im not,

The Tigers are percieved to be a less desirable destination than any other club in the NRL at present. .

More thann anything else I want us to be a tough club on and off the field {melb like} but this sigmals how we treat the cream of our crop.

Realistically he is good winger. He is our.best and most recognised player now.

This descission is more than 100k

We cant allow nofo to be in another teams jersey.

We can if the amount he wants is ridiculous. No longer should we pay overs. No longer are we the retirement club or the the soft touch and desperate club. That’s the best message than can be sent to all players and their management and our fans.

My oppinion is based on branding.

Paying him $600k would be ridiculous. We’re making smart signings at the moment and appear to be heading in the right direction. We also seem to have some young players coming through that are promising. We’re not desperate like we were a few years ago.

That type of branding will be forgotten once on field success is achieved. On field success is the only thing we should be concentrating on in this regard.

Disagree.... that figure would be base..if that is what another Club is offering ..that should be at least matched..

Nofoaluma is not in the elite class his is the tier just below..the analitics fron 2020 puts him in the top 10..

This is a professional game.Emotion should not come into it.I like Nouffa, but lets be serious these guys are not on the breadline. Its always the managers behind this.

With Naden likely to miss some footy, I dont think they will be letting anyone go

Nadan wasn’t in the best 17

True but he would certainly have been in front of Laurie as depth, so that makes it harder for us to get a release now.

He’s a fullback/5/8, so I don’t see how Nadan, a winger/centre, being out of the picture benefits him
