Dean Collis...WOW!

Lol, Collis made the move ironically to get more game time with the sharks, **after Ayshford essentially took his spot from him back in 2009, while he was injured….**

He was great guns for us I always thought, however has really sucked for the Sharks.

Betcha the Sharks are wishing they kept Mitch Brown now.

Collis went down the same path as Gallant. We have had our fair share of injuries in both positions in the last couple of years and Collis and Gallant would have both definitely saw first grade again with the Tigers. Collis would almost definitely be playing at left centre at the moment had he stayed, and Gallant probably would be our first choice fullback (I'm assuming that if he stayed Wade Mac wouldn't have been sought after.)

Instead of being prepared to stick it out and bide their time, they took the first offer they got and ran. They are both now stuck in Reggies and it looks as though they may both might be hard pressed playing FG again.

In both circumstances their development has definitely suffered as a result. It's sad really, they both showed awesome potential.

In Gallant's situation he probably thought Bowen would not get over two knee reconstructions . Bowen has been great this year . Apart from Slater, Boyd and MacKinnon he has been the next best fullback in NRL

THEY were completely different collis ran for money but gallant was continually overlooked for fullback so thats why he left. Now plays under the mecurial matty bowen so completely different to collis.

He still walked for the first offer he got, didn't he? With the plethora of games last year that Moltzen, Fitzy and Ryan all played at FB last year for us, Gallant would have been a walk up start.

Gallant must be spitting chips - he had a young family didn't he? would have moved them all up there with him, and the coin wouldn't be all that crash hot, knowing you are Bowen's understudy.

Met him at the easter show when i got my jersey signed by him and Blake Lazarus (lol, great signings there, Underdog, those will be KEEPERS…. :unamused: ) and he seemed like a really nice, personable guy.

And christ he's small! :astonished:

Dean Collis gas potential.
its up to him to use it.
can't go making excuses for your career, not reaching the expectations you had due to injury.
good players will have injuries ans some time it may take a while to overcome them, then they bounce back.

eg. Anthony " the count" Minichello, Matt Bowen, Benji, Darren Lockyer, Scott Prince,

If Collis was smart should have thought about the future halves pairing he was going to get service from before joining the Sharks. I'd rather play outside Marshall/Lui rather than Barrett/Porter or Kelly/Smith/Graham.

I might be wrong but Collis didn't seem to be all that strong. He seemed like he was fast enough and could use an overlap but I prefer a centre that can also break the line using size and strength. That's why I think Ayshford has alot of potential.

He did well in 06 with his speed to get around his man, but once teams started to figure this out he never really had much else. Good players play to their strengths but work on other parts of their game, Collis never really developed any new strings to his bow.
