Are Development players guaranteed the upgrade to NRL squad or can they be let go? I wonder who of the 4 we have this season we actually would keep if we had a choice.

On the tigers website it says they’re all contracted for next season so unless they’re let go from their contracts early they’ll be in the top 30

Thanks JC- just checked the Team list on the Tigers website, it lists Simpkins, Madden, Bradley, Cini, Hoffman all as Development signings and Smith as a full contract expiring this season.
Assuming Smith is not re-signed then we are making way for the 5 Development players plus Stefano and Tamou into our NRL squad. That is 7 spots we have to find correct??

With Tamou in we have 5 spots to fill for next season. Hoffman is still a development player next season but the other 4 are joining the top squad for next season.

If you count up all the players who are listed as contracted it adds up to 24 then adding Tamou it’s 25.

Edit: this also doesn’t include Momirovski, Pascoe has said he’ll be back next year but nothing official has been announced which would leave us with 4 spots if he returns.

They’re contracted to be in our top 30 for next season so I won’t assume otherwise until there’s an official announcement from the club saying they’ll be departing. In saying that it wouldn’t surprise me if not all of them stuck around next season.

Ok so suffice it to say that assuming we re-sign only Sam M and not Huth then around 4 spots available - not much cap money though.

Probably just enough cap to grab JAC and fill the rest with minimum wage deals

Grant being all lovey with the storm players, posing for photos etc after the game made me feel kinda empty

I hope nobody seriously thinks we have a chance at retaining him

As for the players departing...apart from McIntyre and the huth (he’s surprised me this year), the rest can pack their bags

Well the only 2 I would retain.
Taylor has been solid later in the season but think his time is over.
Grant is a winner and wants to play in a winning club, can’t knock his commitment whilst been here, wish we had more like him.

At the moment there is no one in the team I would be shattered to lose.

I cannot say any of our players could force their way into a top 8 side. Most of our team are fringe first graders.

Yes it is part of the contract arrangements, some players have 1 year development contracts and then move into top 30, others have 2 year development contracts and then into top 30.

Would be great if we could offload Garner and Mikaele. Bring in 2 blokes who show some heart. I'd rather Josh Jackson for a season than Garner or Useless Tom. He'd put a bit of steel in our pack.
Mikaele has been a monumental disappointment, he's Jesse Sue Mk2.

Totally agree on Mikaele. In attack and defence he doesn’t seem to know how to use his massive frame. I would suggest maybe persisting with him a season or two longer (obviously Madge rates him to be a starting prop yesterday) but he really needs to lift his aggression and desire

He's just a big pillow. Stefano seems to be of similar ilk, we need some hard men in our pack.

Paseka was the same until the penny dropped-one more year for Mikaele.

Kei is a fine player, so is Rizk and I believe Scolari has it as well. Kepaoa has the size and pace you cannot coach. If you watch the try where he had to sprint the look on the Storm fullback's face was disbelief how Kepaoa burnt him for pace. He is going to be very good for WTs.

BJ has been a major disappointment.

Centre options in 2021

AD (Goal Kicker)

Mbye
Mono
Kei
Talou
Cini

Thoughts?

Think Noffo and AJ will be our wingers for 2021

If AJ Hands like feet Kepoa is our starting winger we are in trouble. He has blown 2 tries every week because he can't catch a pass.

My starting backline at this stage is
Mbye
JAC
BJ
Douehi
Nofa
Reynolds
Brooks

I hope they come out this week and name the players moving on so fans can thank them and also have a better understanding of our squad for next year.
I also think we persist with AJ on the wing even though he has dropped a few balls.. Some of them passes he would not of expected but overall he is young and that try he did score yesterday shows me he has talent but needs more experience.. Give him some time
