Unfortunately as a magpie supporter in the 90s, I didn't have too many wins to celebrate, but didn't stop me supporting guys like Langmack, Bobby Lidner, cement Gillespie, Andrew Farah etc
Who was your uncle shakey?

Tony Ford was a superb attacking footballer. He had a big sidestep and ran with a rather upright action and I seem to recall he copped more than his share of head high tackles. I have a memory of him playing against Manly and Bobby Moses ironing him out twice in the same match with swinging arms. He wasn't sent off.
That's exactly how I remember him. My mates and I used to go to Pratten Park to watch all three grades on a Saturday. Tony started in 3rd grade. When he'd bring the ball back from kicks he'd made 50 or 60 metres every time because they couldn't pick his step. Got hit in the head so much I think it dented his confidence and although he was a very good player I'm not sure he fulfilled his potential. Met him years later and found him to be a top bloke. Very modest about his achievements.
We could certainly use a Tony Ford type player now Teddy is leaving.
