Did you start supporting the Wests Tigers before the merger or after?

Made a conscious decision in 1989 to switch from the Dogs who everyone followed to the worst team which happened to be the Maggies. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Mighty maggies. Uncle played over 100 first grade games as a fullback and dad reserves back in the 70s. I had no chance but to be a magpie.

Unfortunately as a magpie supporter in the 90s, I didn't have too many wins to celebrate, but didn't stop me supporting guys like Langmack, Bobby Lidner, cement Gillespie, Andrew Farah etc

Who was your uncle shakey?

Tony Ford. Fullback. Kicker. Hey we are in the market for one of those. I'll give him a buzz. ?

Tony Ford was a superb attacking footballer. He had a big sidestep and ran with a rather upright action and I seem to recall he copped more than his share of head high tackles. I have a memory of him playing against Manly and Bobby Moses ironing him out twice in the same match with swinging arms. He wasn't sent off.

We could certainly use a Tony Ford type player now Teddy is leaving.

That's exactly how I remember him. My mates and I used to go to Pratten Park to watch all three grades on a Saturday. Tony started in 3rd grade. When he'd bring the ball back from kicks he'd made 50 or 60 metres every time because they couldn't pick his step. Got hit in the head so much I think it dented his confidence and although he was a very good player I'm not sure he fulfilled his potential. Met him years later and found him to be a top bloke. Very modest about his achievements.

Balmain since 1966\. I was knick named Barnsey because my Dad reckons the tradition is to call the first born after the fullback of the tigers at the time. When my son was born in '97, i named him Tim (after Brasher)

My mate Rod Smith played for the Magpies around that era. Tells some great stories how noel Kelly was his body guard when he first played top grade and he always called him Mr Kelly!!! I was always a mad tigers fan but had a real soft spot for Norths and Wests. Also played some football as a kid with the sloth( Big Bruce Gibbs) he was a really funny guy

Haha! I had a feeling it might've been him - he's one of my all time favourite Magpies and yes we could certainly use him right now
