Diving/Milking

Yeah I have mixed views on all this. I don't mind the ones like last night where people cop one high in a tackle but I'm not so keen when kickers fall down like they've been shot after being lightly touched. At least Luke earned his penalty by getting smacked around the face.

I also dislike the hypocrisy of some teams (I'm looking at you Manly) who bellyache about other teams allegedly dogging it but then do exactly the same thing. Steve Matai in particular was very vocal about Farah supposedly faking it but then clearly stayed down to milk a penalty up in Gosford.

If it is going to decide the Match ? Yes , dive please! with a couple of twists and a flip to make sure of it !

We have 2 referees and 2 touch judges. If they don't see the infringement then stiff shit and we move on. The fact the video ref can stick it's nose in will give players the incentive to stay down so leave the video ref for tries and leave the rest of the play to the 4 pairs of eyes paid well to make the decisions.

I agree… It's a penalty. My concern is the number of similar incidents in the game that were missed.

As to diving, if you have been fouled 100%, stay down. This is a business.

Some feathers can really hurt!!!

Our players should do it until they decide to change the idiotic rule that when you stay down, the video ref looks at it.

If the ref doesn't blow a penalty initially, then play on!

Simple don't hit them high and you will be fine. Regardless of the dive, if he didn't hit him high they wouldn't be talking about it today.

If the scores were level in the grandfinal with a min to go and Robbie got tapped on the snoz, got up and continued to play and we lost the game after it, everyone would scream murder at him to stay down.

It isn't pretty but it's the rules of the game, to me it's no different to getting a penalty for running at an off-side marker intentionally and being awarded a penalty which would never be called bad spirited.

My problem is with the consistency. Last year Lote was kneed in the backs in the major semi and rightly stayed down as he was injured by what may have been accidential but still was against the laws act. The video ref and the onfield refs were the only people who didn't think we should have the penalty. The next day the guy was charged by the match review panel.

At a meeting of NRL officials (referees and sideline) the next day in their weekly review I am reliably informed that almost to a man they thought we should have been given the penalty.

So my thoughts are the big games are hard enough to win, if you think you have been fouled stay down and let the video ref look at it, it is only smart play to do so.
