Do you enjoy Rugby League?

I think the game has gone to poo and only watch it because of the love for the Tigers.

The over complicated rules, tragic refereeing and blatant bias towards teams who are expected to win has me hating the game.

No doubt I'll turn up next week to watch. ..but I'm honestly not sure how much longer I can put up with the NRL.

I have already started to try and convince my kids to play something else and I think that is very significant.

I am 100% with you. The game has become tackle touch football. There is no spite, no tribalism and is 100% predictable. I kid you not I cannot watch a game live anymore. I will tape it then fast forward the first 4 plays in each set. I don't do this in Wests Tigers games only because I support them but the game has become sooo boring.

U saying I'm throwing a tanty cos of today's game? I guess the timing of my post suggest it has contributed to it and Yeh I guess it has contributed to it. But like INK said there is much more to it and get your head out the sand so u can see it

Maybe you should pull yours out of somewhere else and notice that the best team every season seem to win the premiership

Funny how that seems to work out , hey

Don't you think ??

Or am I a bloody fool or trolling ??

Stop making excuses for our side and the game , the better side won as it does on most occasions

WTF

I have neither called u a fool or a troll.

But for some reason u have a arked up at this thread so I'll leave be be…on your lonesome by the way, as u are the only one to disagree with it

The game has created its own monster. The video referee
The laborious process involved in making a decision about whether try is a try is so frustrating. Even then, the decision made can be a puzzling one.
Commentators insisted the game had to have a video review system and they got one.
There were howlers by referees before video refs but I think I prefer the game before all this technical jumbo jumbo.
In a league soccer referees make bad decisions ,the players have a [This word has been automatically removed],and the refs blow play on.end of discussion.
I like that finality.
The predictability of general play is dull as ditchwater.the structure of play doesn't allow for a phil Blake or Benji to shine.
Been watching the game since the early 60's and find watching the game frustrating .

If Wests we're going better of course,I'd temper my opinion.
I will always be a loyal supporter but I think the game has been Disadvantaged by the video ref and the emphasis on modern structured play.

Totally Agree
Great post…

The game we watch these days isn't rugby league. It is a bastardized version on some weird tangent.

The U/20's competition is a disgusting joke that makes me so angry I could puke. It is essentially Oztag. This is where the future of the game is heading. No room for tough guys who intimidate and belt their opposites, no room for footballers prepared to go off script and play what is in front of them. No room for defensive titans who get nicknames like 'cement'….Just a bunch of pretty boy athletes with units like competitive body builders who do what they are told to do when they are told to do it and forwards built like superman who can't hack more than 25 minutes with out a rest...

The administration, the promotion, the interpretation of rules, the favoritism, the nepotism, the politics....

A monster has been created and its an ugly bastard. I'll never leave the game but it is getting harder and harder to defend it to rival footy code fans who are unanimous in their appraisal...Rugby League is boring.

You are 100% spot on Stryker. You hit the nail on the head. Athletes all made of glass.

i only enjoy rugby league when we are winning - thats it. Otherwise its pretty boring for myself.

I was covering both yours and Ink's comment , have a read

But my point doesn't change , yes the game is changing

But the best teams usually win , which as I have repeatedly said throughout this thread

That hasn't changed

2008 was the worst and most boring year i have ever seen. This year is just frustrating!

But yes definitely a less enjoyable spectacle these days as a whole. Video refs, 2 refs on the field, boring style played by pretty much every team across the board (although better than 2008's wrestlemania era") 50 different jerseys for every team for every event u can possibly think of, massive inconsistencies in every aspect of officiating, not enough day time football - the slow change of rugby league as a sport into a tv show played at "prime time"…...

other than that, yeah i love rugby league

I can understand everyone being pissed and down on the dumps but unfortunately we are going to see alot more of these sorts of games before we see some good times .
Chin up Ladies and Gents , Good night all…...have a good week .

I think the OP was asking about Rugby League in general FT. Even if Wests Tigers were undefeated my comments still stands. Rugby League is boring.

Yeah i put this on the wrong Thread , my bad .

im 30, i started playing in under 7's stopped at the end of high school, i wasn't overly gifted and i was never going to be a world beater so i hung up the boots to save on pointless injuries. all my mates played i lived and breathed footy..
the game has changed so much so many times tho i'm not really sure what i enjoy about it any more, if i really enjoy it at all. it may just be the idea of rugby league that i enjoy. i have been a balmain tigers, sydney tigers back to balmain tigers and a wests tigers supporter every second of my life, my blood is black, gold and white.
i watch every tigers game and a dribble of other games. it makes me a bit sad that i dont get mad at how bad the tigers can play any more or how blatantly we get ripped by the refs as i am that desensitized to it now. the perennial strugglers tag has been a rough pill to swallow year after flamin year.
I will always support the tigers but rugby league is almost lost to me. the game of skill is almost dead and its given way to the 6 foot 6 100 kg back line.
It will be another year of the club talking about potentia….the crop of kids will get sick of not winning so will signed up by manly dogs roosters broncos and go on to be champions. Tigers will sign more coaches and more kids and more retirees.

I am 50
Played all through school and uni
Played rep level schoolboys before an injury
Followed tigers (both iterations) since 1969
Never missed a home game between 1980 and 2010
Haven't paid to see a game since 2011
Why?
The game has become too boring, over refereed, poorly managed, sick of the rorters etc etc etc
And I'm over it
Never thought I would say it but,I am. Sad

I was told about it two years ago told about it last year as well but this year is the only time I am starting to believe that betting is having a bad effect on the game I was told video ref mite be giving some think to give a team on the day a better rub of the green …. Some choices they make in the box I just can't understand and I am losing faith in the game as a whole from some one who use to watch most games a week to some one who watch's one maybe two
