Does anyone else no longer care? What makes you continue to show up?

Does anyone else just not care anymore? I used to base my entire week around making sure I allocated time to watch the Wests Tigers play. For the last couple of months I haven't been doing that. If I happen to be in the right place at the right time to see the game, I'll see it. Otherwise it's not that important. The same result as the Parramatta game on the weekend in another season would've left me devastated for the next 12-24 hours. I wasn't phased at all when they ran a try in with 3 minutes to go, in fact my reaction was laughter.

Wests/Magpies vs Balmain/Tigers
Where should we play home games?
Which players/coaches should we sign?
What should be done about HBG's ownership and governance structures?

These are all great questions which fuel a lot of debate. At this point I wonder though, how many of you still care and have a burning passion for it? Anecdotally it feels like there are less messages being posted on the forum year-on-year. The team lists used to generate 15-20+ pages each week, now lucky to crack 10 unless there was drama like last week. We haven't even bothered with the 3-2-1 threads.

I have only been a supporter of the club since 2010 and I'm already burned out. It's my understanding that some people here have been supporting since the 1960s/70s and that's just crazy to me. Not only has this club been awful for most of its existence, the two clubs it was founded on were also different shades of terrible for the longest of times (particularly the Magpies in the 90s). I don't know how you guys do it - continuing to come back for more punishment year after year.

It's not only the on-field results which bother me, we constantly have off-field stupidity happening which totally deflates hope for the future. The drama with the independent board and Shane Richardson resigning was a huge nail in the coffin for me. Our 5-2 start pushed that to the side momentarily, but it's back and those decisions show that this club is a totally unserious entity that doesn't deserve our time.

Just my two cents really. What is it that brings you back each week/season?

I think mine stems from a mental disorder from childhood

auto renew...

I have been a season ticketed gold member since first year, same seats at LO since 88 balmain days and since 2000 at CSS

it is a struggle to get interested in last home game, been a dissapointing year in the end.

Idk how it’s physically and emotionally possible to still maintain the rage after all this time. And not just the years and years of no finals, spoons etc. But also gut punches like losing a generational player like Tedesco, having Cleary walk out a year in, plus the never ending drama with players walking out, refusing to play games etc. Sooner or later something snaps inside you and you can’t help but check out. I remember 2005. I was so locked in. One game that season, we played the Sharks on a Friday night. My only concern leading into that game was winning so it wouldn’t ruin my weekend. These days, it’s the last thing that could ruin my weekend. Wins and losses affect me. But I don’t let them make or break my weekend.

I've become indifferent to the results I am tired of hoping things will turn around. Losing to the dragons and bulldogs was the last straw for me.

I'm a very passionate person and if I don't see the same passion/competitiveness from the playing squad, it pisses me off, especially when you think the coin they are on.

I'm basically only still watching games because I don't know what else to do with the time. I don't have a partner so when I am not working I have a lot of free time.

But i am turning off I am very close to being burnt out it's hard and it's got nothing to do with the losing its everything else

What someone posted in here about what James Maloney said about the club being rotten to the core CEO changed many times coaching changed many times players change many times and the same result

The only things that have not changed is the bad smell and HBG

It's hard some weeks I feel like I am in a

Abusive Relationship

Feeling bad because I am not strong enough to leave and keep on being lied to told things a going to change things are going to get better but they never do

Footy clubs are beasts that survive the ups and downs, the faces inevitably change, but the jersey lives on.

Losses give me the shits for a day or so sometimes but the thrill of winning far outweighs it.

Some day we’ll have the right people in place to win consistently again, and the suffering will be long forgotten.
Wins mean more to WT fans because we know the hurt more than most.

Understand people losing the passion for it, but you’ll probably be back.

Same for me. I've checked out and think the board being removed and Richo pushed out were the final straw for me as well. The start to the season was nice but I didn't let myself get my hopes up this time. There's always something bad right around the corner. This is the first year I've ever missed games. I don't feel anything when we lose. I am happy when we win but it's not the same as it used to be, not even close. I rarely check the forum in comparison I used to be here every day.
Feel like I've lost something I genuinely loved and cared so much about

100% feel for you. It didn't feel this bad in the 3peat spoon era.

I don’t think it’s just the failures that this club has lurched from one to another over the last 15 years, but also the game itself. It’s a shadow of what it was. Not the game I grew up watching. Too fast, too soft, too many rule changes. I watch it more out of habit than genuine enjoyment.

It ruins my weekend. Im slowly detaching for my own mental health. Also watching less other games because I'm totally against the direction NRL is going in - which I believe is making it near impossible for WTs to improve.
There is not enough quality players now and the whole junior system does not service bottom feeders because the game is about money and success and this club has proved it doesn't know how to be successful.
This is why I believe basing the club away from its supporter base under our current administration will be the death of us.
No one in Cambelltown is going to suddenly follow WTs cause they move out there, while we remain losers .We don't expect people from Campbelltown to travel to Leichardt for games why should the people from inner west be expected to travel to Campbelltown to support their team for a home game? It's a kick in the teeth for all those who have stuck solid for very little reward.
No half decent junior players will be loyal to a crap club when their manager will set them up with a better option that is built on the back of success. We havent produced/retained a rep player since the big 4 left.

I think it’s safe to assume most here are well and truly over this season…

I also have checked out. Have followed the Tigers (Balmain) and Wests Tigers since I was 8 years old, I am now 70, do the maths. Find myself very depressed with everything that's been going on, not just the loosing, but all the crap besides that. To try to balance this, I have recently adopted a second team, the Dolphins, don't get me wrong, I still follow the Wests Tigers and will for eternity, but having a second team to follow helps me mentally, at least I can look forward to perhaps some good news when they play, hopefully a win.
I deliberately chose the Dolphins, not because of where I live, or that they are favorites, but because they are a new entity and partly because I dislike all the adjoining clubs such as Bulldogs, Eels, Roosters and Manly. Besides that I personally think that the Dolphins play an attractive style of football.
Just my way of not feeling as depressed just following the basket case of a club such as the Wests Tigers.

I also sympathise with all the hard suffering tiger supporters on this forum and trying to remain loyal to this failed JV.
I live in hope week to week to see improvements in performance to try and play simple footie. I can't believe how a team can play so poorly year after year. It's now part of our culture unfortunately.
I have now been worn down so that I do not get too angry after a loss.I get more frustrated by the dumb mistakes or lack of strategy than losing. If We try hard but get beaten , I can cop that despite hating the result. Just can't cop week in and week out of the same dumb play. I don't see this repeating in any other teams.
