Personally I think too much height is a bad thing, except for your wingers. I want as much weight as possible into as dynamic a square frame as possible, because that is the hardest to tackle.
The Gallens, Taumololos, Nofos, all square and strong. I'd sign up 15 of those build, plus two really tall wingers and be satisfied.
For props maybe but height = reach = fend. Guys like GI and Jamal at their best would be a nightmare to tackle.
I get what you are saying but Tedesco has a great fend and he's only 1.80 m, so does Isaac Luke and he's 1.74 m.
It's probably fair to say there are exceptions / freaks of the game to all rugby league concepts.
Myself, if we are talking about height, I think it's VERY secondary to weight. If they can lift you easily, you are in trouble. And taller players have some advantages in terms of potential fends and offloads, but they also give more target area to hit.
I always had this opinion since the days of Paul McNicholas (Sharks) and Matt Parsons (Knights). Both were around 6'6"-6'7" and huge units, but they'd just get drilled around the torso. Not that they weren't competent players, but I always thought they could do to be a bit shorter and not give the defenders so much surface to put their shoulders. Parsons was super broad so he carried a bucketload of weight, he was something like 130 kg. McNicholas was quite skinny around the waist (for his size) and really suffered from good legs tackles.
I then thought much the same about Keithy Galloway who is around 6'4", but a little bit on the skinner side in his legs.
