Does the club still have issues?

Not sure if anyone has more insight, but I keep hearing conflicting things about the club, especially with everything going on around Galvin.

Some reporters say the place has become very tight lipped under the new management, making it much harder to get info compared to the past. But then others in the media have hinted at deeper issues behind the scenes, possibly just tied to Galvin. On The Levels podcast yesterday, Willie Mason said he’s heard things about our youth development that would completely turn him off. I’ve also heard there were past issues with players not being paid what they were promised, which might explain why we cop it so often in the media as I assume all people around the game hate that.

Has anyone heard anything more concrete? Do we actually know what these “bigger problems” are that keep getting mentioned?

It’s frustrating when the media throw out vague warnings but never actually say what’s going on.

Also, just on a side note, did anyone catch Brett Kimmorley’s interview on SEN Radio on Monday arvo? They asked who his Origin halves would be, and he picked Moses over Luai when it was clearly a toss up between the two. I know it’s just his opinion, but he’s affiliated with our club as the NRLW coach. Surely that sort of thing wouldn’t happen at other clubs? Especially just a few hours before we were about to play Parra. It honestly boggles the mind.

Great thread Pacey. And to answer your question absolutely. Something is rotten in Tiger Town and it ain't the fans. I guess you do as well as you wouldn't of gave birth to this notion.

Willie Mason works with Bulldogs pathways and is an assistant coach direct opposition to our club and so has a vested interest in a competitive market. Not sure I would be listening to anything he is trotting out.

That’s one way to look at it.
But you could also consider that if he has his ear to the ground in that space then he might also be getting tib bits of info as to why some juniors aren’t backing the tigers as a development option.

Yep and he can choose to believe and share what suits him to influence an outcome that directly benefits his position and why wouldn't he when he has an audience.
He certainly would not be supporting the bullying accusations made against the Bulldogs by Jackson Topine last year when we all heard the rumours.

I think there are plenty in the media and the NRL that has an issue with the club existing.

It just feels like a reduction of Sydney based teams is a goal many are still pushing for.

My tinfoil hat may be on too tight, but between the near continuous poor refereeing and constant stream of negative articles, it all feels very targeted.

They also annihilate us in every grade, year after year, so maybe he knows a lot more about it than most.
Our pathways and development system is a joke, worst in the comp by a mile.

I think the bullying claims deserves its own thread.

From what is alleged, my understanding is that the Club has signed players to bigger contracts and is now regretting it. Since they want the players to move on now, they are playing them in reserve grade so that they will be unhappy and move on rather than serving out their contract.

I have no idea if it's true or not, but that is equivalent of the Club not doing the right thing ethically. We shouldn't be stopping a player's growth so they can be pushed out.

I hope it's not true and something that should be discussed away from Galvin.

Are we really, really the only club not playing all our top 30 players in either the top grade or the 1 below?
I’ll give you time to do some research.

So it's not anything new. What's wrong with this club? Best fans on the planet. Like they don't give a hoot about the fans. It's surreal. I mean. It was only meant to be a football match.

I don’t think you should be relying on the media for the truth. Whether it’s a feel good story or damaging one it will always be written/stated to create the most views and discussion

I would much rather hearing Brett’s real views on selection. And to be fair Luai hasn’t been in top form

You think Tumeth and Matamua should be playing first grade?
