I've already lived through Wests getting spoons, lots of times. It doesn't change things though. I think the club needs to face the fact it doesn't belong at the elite level.

The club does
But certain players don't
Its time to clear the decks, well past the time
Its not acceptable any more
Holding on to club loyal players when they are just just not performing at a high level on a consistent basis
2 or 3 good games does not make up for a crap game
Heads need to roll
Heads must roll
Some of our players are to used to loosing and accepting that because it has always been the same
We have 3 or 4 players that have been here too long and they need to be moved on
We all know who they are
Its time we all faced those facts
I would rather the Talaus and Twals be retained, than to import the Braiths and Mbyes on big bucks. How can the club afford to move on Mbye?

If we can get $300,000 to $400,000 for Mbye we take it
We spend it on the best young prospects we can find

If we could get $200.00 I'd take it.

Maybe from a team in Nepal - they don't know anything about Rugba Leeg.

Or contact Steve Georgallis. People forget that he coached the Greek national side to a 90-0 win over Hungary. There are heaps of places he could go.

Yes, we needed the spoon about 5 years ago

And we nearly did. 2015 we were equal last with Knights. For an against saved them.

But they jumped six places to 9th the following year🙄

The club has no idea how to do any of that. We're out of our depth.

Don't see how getting the spoon would be an impetus for change...

Getting the spoon would be less likelihood of good players transferring to Wests Tigers. If they did we would have to pay big overs to entice them. Then we run out of recruitment money for the coming years.

Parra and Newcastle don’t seem to have the issues of signing good players

As was pointed out the other day, we haven’t signed a marquee player since Tuquiri (I don’t count Blair). Good players don’t want to come here.

True, but you should count Blair as both players after they leave our club get snatched up for penny change the following year and make a gf the next year....
The only plus side is that it was Madge that signed Tuqiri when we casted him asside.

I agree.

9th at least you have somewhere to go, some specific improvement you can make; the foundation is there. Last basically means everything is the problem.

No. Some of the supporters seem to want it though. Always far more lively on here when we lose than when we win.

My favourite is when we lose like we did the other night, there’s usually one or two narrow minded individuals predicting we’ll get the spoon, not realising there are a half a dozen sides worse than us. While we do lose games that we shouldn’t, as every team does, we have very rarely, in 20 years been the worst side in the competition. We always have enough about us to be in the top half of the bottom 8.

The Roar’s Placepunter must be a Tigers fan also 😂

“Why Harry Grant must not stay with Wests Tigers
I’ll cut straight to the chase.
He’ll never win a premiership with Wests Tigers “

Maguire should get that tattooed backwards on the foreheads of every WT player so they see it every time they look in the mirror.
Bottom 8 grand finalists woohoo.
Spoon? No thanks.

Yep and 50% of teams lose every week some because they play poorly - not unique to us.
This team can't be responsible for the years we havnt played finals footy and they can't miraculous be the team that play finals footy if they are not good enough. And as frustrating as it is to be that team camped in the middle it is still a whole lot better than taking home the spoon.

Never want or need the spoon ever.

We need to continue to demand that mediocre performances and players are unacceptable.

We are on the right path now. Dont waver and hold your nerve.

No spoon ever.

I realise some fans may be content with 9th or just sneaking intro the playoffs, however, my greatest fear is that the players don’t share that same aspiration. We finally have a coach who wants to win, so who cares if he kicks his chair while he’s in the process of managing player expectation. If not him then who? I don’t see anyone in the team who can do this apart from Packer maybe? Our co-captains aren’t capable of lifting the team at crucial times..

We definitely don't need the spoon. I don't see any benefit from winning that title. We just need a better team. We also need to be patient because unfortunately we need to build a quality team from the ground up. We aren't the rorters and we can't go out and just buy players.

Exactly.

Magpies have won 17 wooden spoons and Balmain won 4.
As a joint venture I hope we never add to that tally even though we came very close a few years ago.
