Don’t get cocky.

That was somewhat emotionally draining… whilst I’m definitely more in support of Madge than some, I’d like to say it’s totally understandable and fair to retain the opposite viewpoint even now as that win seemed/felt like a long time in the making and may not directly correlate to coaching.

However, is anybody feeling a little bit of a fever this week??? Not going to say I’ve had full-blown visions just yet but one thing we must all concede is that was a BIG effort mentally and physically to get up again at Leichhardt finally.

What we can’t afford to do (in my opinion) is to put all of our eggs in the one basket much like we did not do in ‘05 - as it was unexpected and organic - and single out certain particular games as more important than others because of our personal desires… al a absolutely hammering Mitch

We need to absolutely expect and strive for 2/3 wins through this period and no less as we will definitely drop one or two against battlers on the way home. We always have. The most important thing we can do for this weekend’s fixture is to dial the emotions all the way back and plug in like we did during the second forty on Friday, this is because I believe Parra will much more likely suit up as antagonists and try to rattle US during the game - Brown’s.

It won’t work, but they’ll get a lot of confidence from a lot of ball and as usually happens when the forward battle is even or not in our favour we really fatigue due to youth. Need to retain mental stamina for close to 80 and this is our best chance to do it yet.

The media will be quick to jump on the “Tigers are grubby” train if we win in such brutal fashion again but my whole point is there is absolutely no way we will

Madge must keep the boys playing tactically smart.

Give nothing away and smash them up the guts - just do not get into a tit-for-tat battle with their ref baiting maestros and we’ll come out on top again in the latter stages. Win the right to rub their noses in it and take advantage of the clear speed we seem to have now right across the park that has surprised and stifled the better teams this year… when we’ve played them.

As much as I’d love a +f/a, it’s more likely to be tight and even a slugfest at times…

I finally feel like we have something to prove and fire in the belly. Let’s not waste this general energy and direction

One week at time.

This is exactly the nature of the beast this year, NRL as unpredictable as form lines themselves... timing is everything!

Confidence, not cockiness, is important. The 2005 side talk about it all the time - they thought they were unbeatable.

I'm glad that the team will start to build a bit of confidence, which will hopefully lead to more energy on the field.

How Can a team that hasn't been in the finals for ten years be cocky? Crazy.

Next year will be more likely for finals. Even if we do make it this year we won't trouble anyone.

Not the point. Need to buck our own trend of serving up WT Tripe at around and post this timeframe every single year.

I’m thinking you’re more patient than myself but the point still stands that this feels like one of the better chances we’ve had to turn the ship and maintain the ‘rage’ that we never seem to catch on to...

I’ll put it this way - would your opinion change after another win ? Yes, as would most... it’s because we haven’t been this close to Madge finally breaking through and you must consider that the appointment of Tim Sheens to a seemingly freshly created role has people considering this group in the same breath as the ‘05 team. Few ingredients missing

It was a pretty average win imo. We threw away the ball for about 30 minutes straight. If they're cocky after that, help us all.

This weekend is definitely pivotal. A big win and we’re probably firming into short odds to make the 8. A bad loss and we’re back to square one.
I hate Parra.

Couldn’t agree more

How do we contain Sivo? He is almost unstoppable close to the line.

Line speed and win the ruck

Would it be a good idea to kick early in sets to limit Parra's possession near our tryline?

One thing we can count on is Marko Sivo getting a penalty for a crusher tackle on him. The guy is an absolute cheat - he turns his back in the tackle and drops his head so its inevitable the tackler is pushing on his neck. He should be penalised for milking it.

That’s a tactic I always like (when there is space of course, kicking it down Sivo’s throat is ill advised)

We plat Parra next. If they get cocky they could lose. If we get too cocky we could lose. Being cocky is different to being confident and the latter is how Wwsts Tigers should approach and play this match.
