Doubts about latest signings

Anyone who has doubts over Reynolds needs to watch this. Graham looks absolutely shattered that he is leaving. Reynolds will be massive for us on and off the park. I'm looking forward to having a player who's going to lead by example and absolutely bust himself on the paddock for us each week. Welcome Josh.

Wow having just seen that - if i was in recruitment i would be on to Graham's management straight away about maintaining that friendship and joining a club that is on the way up.

He is allegedly on 1 million for next year, so I couldn't see him here without a good contribution from the Dogs. I'd love to have him, though.

Off topic, geez he speaks well. That's someone you want talking on behalf of your club.

Its a really interesting time for us all as we have never experienced this before.

Losing most of our squad and rebuilding by purchase with a minor mix of juniors.

I could see why some have concerns. In saying that I also judge the players we aquire by their fans response.

On Reynolds the fact the Bulldogs fans are shattered and Graham last night was clearly not happy with him joining us this shows that he isn't a terrible recruit.

He is a match winner, rep quality, cost us less than Moses, he will give 100% and he will make mistakes. Its clear Cleary is establishing a balanced squad whilst we got an upgrade in a key position for a cheaper price.

I'm extremely happy with him coming on the bus

I agree. I think it forgotten that we save around 150k by signing reynolds over moses and we get the better player both on and off the field. Same with Matulino, the 700k from what I understand is only 475k that is half the value of woods for a player of equal skill (except matulino will bend the line). Ivan is a very smart man providing the youth with some smart old heads

That's how I'm approaching this.
If we get upgrades in positions at a cheaper price we then get a better squad. More competitive and more success.

I'm taking my like/dislike of a player style off the table.

Woods cash was the equivalent of McQueen & Mataulino
Moses cash was Reynolds & Another player.

Both are better upgrades for the squad.

Teddy is the challenge but if we can upgrade across the park fullback of Teddy's Ilk will be less of a loss.

McQueen is the edge back rower we are sorely missing. We really need to sign another though imo. Or even Guerra. That would enable Cleary to push ET out to the other edge.

Matulino is one the best props in the game. Top 5 imo. We saw how good he was last night, and that was first game back from injury. Just wait till he gets a few games under his belt and is starting again.

Reynolds is the best out of the trio. His passion and toughness speaks for itself. I would really consider making him captain if I was Cleary. He has everything you want in a leader.

Hopefully there's more to come.

Captain!!!!! You're kidding right?
Captain's don't deliberately trip people on more than one occasion. He's the last guy I'd want as captain

Weren't you going to cease supporting the club the day we signed Reynolds? Not sure why it would matter to you if he's captain or not.

Brooks/Reynolds combination wont work so considering both have recently signed, one is a poor signing?

I like the Matulino signing, but would like to point out that he was signed to work with Aaron Woods. So if Aaron moves on, we need to look at other options to ensure the vision Cleary had is still achieved. Is that Felise or do we need to go to market again?

Everyone seems excited about this kid from Penrith… Being so young its hard to judge if he is a good signing [if true], but he looks big enough to play anywhere in the back 5\. Whats his best long term position?

These two buys appear to be upgrades for less money. We won't get an upgrade on the other one but we will save money.

We won't have a marquee player now though. I'm okay with that but I want to see us get some more players and hopefully some players that can really motor. I'd like to see someone like JAC on the wing or Coen Hess in the pack. It doesn't mean those players but some young kids who are potential guns.

I also want to see who we re-sign. Idris for instance is a player that can make a difference on the field. MM has been great. Our retention is going to be important as well.

These guys leaving have gutted us. We can come out of this in a better shape and so far we have but we need to focus on getting a good squad and building on that squad. It's far from over.

The positive point is that the drama stating that we are a basket case and we can't attract players to me now seems to be clearly wrong. Players will definitely come here and not for massive overs. Our club including the board, CEO, football manager and coach all appear to be handling this professionally.

He's 25 or so. He's played wing, centre and fullback for the Panthers ISP side but debuted in first grade on the wing. He looks to be big enough for a centre but I'd say he will probably be played on the wing in ISP with a view to him possibly forcing Kev out of the side.

Have no problems with the signings, it's good that they have moved quickly. Though I was hoping they may snag some younger guns such as Suli….lower cost for longer time

So many ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Can you enlighten me as to why Brooks/Reynolds wont work…to me they compliment each other well...

The Penrith kid is 25 so not young in terms of a footy player...little FG experience granted ...centre/wing long term..

As for the recruitment so far it's a 1000 times more encouraging than previously seen...More than Solid First Graders ...they are Experienced Rugby League Players with Rep level pedigree...they would get a start in all Clubs 17 ..not the usual cast off's that other Clubs reject that make Wests Tigers the best...

To lure any player to a club that has been struggling you have to offer over the odds in money and years. Our two signings so far are replacements for Woods and Moses, both deals were cheaper than the ones we offered Moses and Woods and the same duration. You could also argue that our new players are equal or better than the ones we had.

Anyway in Reynolds, he brings experience, toughness and a super competitive streak, not bad qualities to have. He was also probably the best no6 we could probably lured to the club. Don't think we were in the race for either TMM or Foran.

Interesting times ahead, certainly need some more NRL standard signings, but we have made a good start

Tigers haven't paid overs for either and are both in prime age for footballers. We will get the absolute peak years out of matualino and Reynolds. Good buys.

Do you have any idea what we ended up paying for them?

475k for matualino and 720k Reynolds. Though I've been told Reynolds final year is 760k. Must be a retirement bonus. Haha.

The way I look at it, any club can bring out the best in a player - look at Broncos with Blair. He sucked for us but is playing his best footy with the Broncs. I think under Cleary's control Matulino and Reynold's can do good things. If it was under JT then I'd be concerned.
