Penrith have basically outpointed us in every exchange bar the Suncorp win

Again probably says more about us off field than anything else

Yet fans sprout repeatedly how good we're going off the field. If you say it enough times you start to believe it I guess.

People need to calm down. We wanted him, he wanted to come, but we just could not shift a player. How long did we expect he was going to sit on the sideline waiting for us? He’s a good player who I would have liked, but it’s not to be. One door closes another opens. That’s life.

@avocadoontoast yeah we will have to agree to disagree i guess. Last years team played well to start but looked bad towards the end and added a 7 game losing streak. Things everyone bitched about like playher accountability etc is happening. We knew this roster was not something madge would like he like power and dynamic play. Well i guess i cant predict the future but i feel like all this player movement is about shipping out the over paid. Yes it will be painful yes i can see us missing the 8 as per usual, yes ill drop my bundle again at some stage but i feel lile we will move forward under him.

Disclaimer i liked cleary so could be totally wrong as i was about him.

@hodgo disagree. The dogs breakfast he inherited was playing better under the moron who was coaching us last year. I’m not writing off Maguire yet but man, he’s not setting the world on fire just yet. I ain’t sold on him at all.

I think Madge would be an acquired taste amoungst the nrl players.

@snowy55 Offloading means paying freight for few years which is not desirable ..... swapping of player you don’t want in the vicinity of same contract $s ..... is the go. So yes we may find that a difficult issue for unmotivated player like Packer.

I'd also be letting Reynolds know, one more serious injury and WT will seek his medical retirement and/or approach NRL for dispensation to do the same things as the Ingliss- Souths scenario.

Inglis forewent his payments for the rest of his contract. Can't see Reynolds doing that.

I don't think medical retirement will work either. It's not as though it's just been one condition.

@hobbo1 yeah he doesn’t seem to be getting much out of them. With the exception of Aloiai I can’t think of anyone actually playing better under Maguire.

@avocadoontoast we seem to be going backwards not forwards or the players don’t care because there leaving I don’t know

But how much trouble has it caused .....at least 5-6 different players got thrown up as trade bait

That doesn't do much for team harmony .....and that's the one thing that came out of Friday in my opinion , lot of players weren't putting in for others

It'll be much of the same until June 30 passes imo

But that’s what happens when you’ve got a team of sooks .
This is under 12’s isn’t it ?

@GNR4LIFE Have you become apathetic because you've accepted mediocrity? We have an average squad and he's an upgrade, what's not to understand? Also comparing us to the Roosters is laughable. We can't even reach September.

I’m guessing you mean apathetic as an insult. But I am. I’m not devastated that we missed out on a player who is only slightly better than what we already have. You think the comparison to the Roosters is laughable, well I think melting down over DWZ is equally laughable because it shows how desperate some people are for us to sign anyone, even if it’s a player we don’t need

Agree, it would not be straightforward, however, it would send a huge signal to Reynolds- particularly if he still dreams of an ESL farewell bank cheque- do it now or how would it look to ESL recruiters if your NRL club is trying to retire you on medical grounds. Play hardball- gentlemen come last in this game.

@happy_tiger I don’t dispute that. Fact is he is not coming. We can sit on here and sook, or we can hope that not getting him opens the door for someone better. It’s not Madge’s fault Cleary has him hog tied for the next few years. We’ve reached the halfway point of this year and I think Madge has identified the weaknesses and now trying to fix it. I’ll never complain about that.

Su’a whilst not a back looked good today, he is behind a stack of players at the broncos, he would help us immensely

You admit to him being an upgrade but he's not a player we need. You talk a lot of sense buddy.

@2005magic I was thinking the same on Reynolds he needs to fill his employment obligations ... if he never gets on the field for differing injuries he surely is not making that requirement.I would keep McQueen he has shown he is at least performing under Madge as I am told you need to fill your roster .

The taking to court for contract termination was Packer.

We have now heard 2 x different stories, neither good.

1/ he has the sh*ts with Maguire, preferred 'working' under Cleary, and has all but gone on strike in disagreement with Maguire. SITUATION UNTENABLE- document everything, give him a warning, if not already done, underperfrom again and you're sacked. No payout.

2/ Packer has displaced his hip and cannot run or put any real stress / demand on whichever leg affected. At his age, practically a career ending injury. SITUATION UNTENABLE- try the medical retirement avenue.

I dont see the Packer situation being resolved in any way amicably or being able to offload him elswhere. WT have to do the dirty work.
