Eastwood

Money is the main factor here. We cant go buying top shelf guys all the time. If he was subsidised by the doggies, then at a minimum, he'll be great for depth.

100%. Let's remember that we need to fill a squad of 30 plus 6 development players.

I think the 6 development players are included in the 30

No 30 plus 6

He is a solid player that adds depth something we have zero of. Added to that he is better then half our forwards that's for sure

NOT MOVING OUT JUST YET

Greg Eastwood takes on the line.

Wests Tigers are still in the market for new troops but their interest in Greg Eastwood has cooled.

While Ivan Cleary’s men had looked into the Bulldogs backrower with the Dogs believed to be in need of shedding some talent from their books ahead of next season, the Tigers baulked at his asking price.

The fact is he has a contract for 2018 so he doesn’t have to lower his price tag.

That is much more positive if we do end up with him the dogs have to kick the tin a lot harder than the proposed 125k they are supposedly offering. At least half would be more realistic if we are putting in more than 200k it would be a poor decision imo

There would be a point where it would not be viable to the Dogs to release him if the contribution is too great. Perhaps the strategy is to force the hand of the Dogs to release a player the want to keep, such as Jackson.

Good news

Good news on various fronts
* baulked at asking price
* approaching teams with potential cap issues for quality players

Eastwood is an upgrade on what we have in the 17, with the way Cleary moulds his team he would be effective.

Hope this also means we are chasing CHN hard now as well.

Can we "develop" Eastwood to be more athletic ?

Lol even in his prime Eastwood's body always looked like that! Don't think we'd be able to make him more athletic now

The guy has never looked anything like a rugby league player, but geez 4-6 years ago he was a super player off the bench who was always good for a big burst down the middle once or twice per game. I would've taken him in a heartbeat back then, but not so much now. At 30 his best is behind him. If indeed we have signed him, I think it's about 4 years too late, but hey hopefully he proves me wrong.

Cleary played 4D chess with dragons via widdop to get packer

Hopefully has some master moves to go

I hope so, maybe pretend to chase Hiku and sign Edwards or CHN, pretend to chase Eastwood and sign Hoppa or Graham, pretend to chase Guerra and sign Manu or Watson.

I can see no real benefit to signing Eastwood. He is overweight, unfit and way past his best. Experience, record of success? Yes, but will he get fit and will he be better first grade options than Felise, Tatola, Marsters or any other Tigers youngster? At 30+ he'll see it as an opportunity to cruise into retirement and won't be motivated to put his body on the line. No thanks.

Perfect way to sum Eastwood up^
