Greg eastwood reportedly signed for the tigers, Bulldogs to pay an amount of his wages next season.
Gordon next on a one year contract ,that will solve the goal kicks for at least a season.

Source??

I didn't hear it but one of the guys I work with said that he heard it on 2GB yesterday

Both Eastwood and Hiku would not be on my list, just fail to see them offering a great deal more than some players we already have on our books, but you also have to put some faith in Cleary, he would know a little more about the NRL than me

I think some of u on here need to take a step back and look at the big picture.
1- hiku and eastwood are both rep players
2= they offer experience that we don't have and both will come cheap
3= we need players in the pack who run hard and hit hard, eastwood does both, ok he will not play big mins, but we need that kind of impact coming of the bench.
4- hiku can play 5/8, winger, centre and fullback would be made to knock back that type of player.
remember u have to sign squad players as well as 1st choice players or ur cap will go nowhere.

To sign Hiku and Eastwood would likely need to offer long term deals. Both are well past their best. They would also be looking for big money deals, even if some is subsidised by their current club.
We have the nucleus of a decent side and I would rather save the money for youngsters with potential or players being offloaded by their current club when the salary cap is finalised

I agree you need these sorts of squad players to be successful, Hiku in particular still is young enough to offer quite a bit and can cover multiple positions, Eastwood if heavily subsidised for a year or 2 could offer good punch off the bench and experience.

He's only 24 and 80 nrl games under him. As you say, can cover multiple positions in the backs and you need squad players too. Might not be who everyone wants.
Personally wouldn't say no to hiku if panthers are shopping him around.

Sorry but Eastwood runs hard and hits hard?? Maybe he did 4 years ago but not now. A waste of cash. I'd rather fund a young player's future than prop up an old prop's retirement plans…..

Its funny i just saw a post saying tigers have already offered him a contract, jst waiting on him. Might be one of the players gus mentioned.

There was an article on foxsports website yesterday that said we had pulled out because of the asking price but i can't find it now. Hope it's true, would be a big gamble.

Agreed. Eastwood was Dynamite for Canterbury 4 years ago. Unless Eastwood is coming with someone else from Canterbury and I can only think Josh Jackson that would be worth getting, we should let him go. He does not seem to have leadership or particularly good qualities that we need. Maybe Eastwood with Graham and we could see a mongrel in the pack, but we don't need a wheelchair on the field.

Ofcourse if he wants $200K or Canterbury will fork out 50% of his contract we may take him on the cheap.

Peter Hiku however is EXACTLY what we need. A good utility player who can cover, add
