Wests Tigers have today granted hard working forward Eddy Pettybourne a release to join English Super League Club Wigan.
Pettybourne will commit to a two-year deal with the powerful English club at the end of this season.
“It’s an opportunity just too good to pass up,” Pettybourne said.
“It’s something that’s always interested me and I’m looking forward to the challenge. I just reckon the time is right for me.
“I will leave Wests Tigers on good terms and appreciate the fact they have allowed me to challenge myself overseas.”
Pettybourne joined Wests Tigers this season after six years with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Wests Tigers Coach Mick Potter wished Eddie all the best with his new challenge.
“We haven’t had the chance to see the best of Eddie due to injuries but I am sure he will be a great asset to Wigan,’’ Potter said.

Will this free up a spot for someone like Luke Brooks to play first grade towards end of season?

Can't say I'm upset by this.

Good luck to him.

This is great news , Mick Potter is starting to mould his team for next year then judge him then ….Good luck to Pettybourne but most will agree that he won't be missed has done bugger all .

To say I was disappointed with Eddie's performance would mean I would of had expectations of him to begin with. Good move Grant and Mick!

Well done. He was terrible this year. Potter probably told him you either play state cup or ask other clubs and an ESL club probably looked at him. Win for all really.

I think Thompson or Anasta will be next. Time to get rid of low strike backrowers

Good luck to him, and a prudent move by the club. It is really just a shame they didnt make the June 30 for an immediate transfer, and we could have promoted possibly.

We are starting to look like a real contending squad next yr… Lets hope the Ayshford rumor is true as well, no malice, I wish him all the best too, he has been on the improve, but we were really starting to build a log-jam in a few positions.
