How about we all learn how to spell our captain's name. Farah, not Farrah!

Almost as bad as the mongs who can't spell Fifita, Heighington, Payten and Moops!!
Fafita!!! Arghhh!!!
Heinington, Heightington, Heighnington!!! Arghhhh!!!
Payton!!! Argghhhh
Moors!!! Argghhhhhhhh!!! The card says Moops!! :brick: :brick: :brick:

OK clutching at straws here with another one. I am probably guilty of this one myself but -

its/it's -

it's - The apostrophe shortens the words "it is."
its - Something that belongs to it is "its."

As a teacher I have a number of pet hates:
1\. "could of" instead of "could've"
2\. when my team "Verse" your team ??????, not sure verse can be used as a verb, although the Macquarie dictionary probably includes it now.
3\. the spelling "dosen't" instead of "doesn't".
I have a stack more, but these are the most common.

"youse" instead of 'you' (just like fish, sheep, feet, there is no 's' to make you plural)
"done it" intead of 'have done it' or 'did it'
Like you, tigergirlz, I coujld go on and on …

whose instead of who's
and i hate when people say "i didnt do nuffin" … that's a double negative, mate, you did something.

You'll need to chill out….It's holidays...... :wahoo:

Oh and 'woz' instead of 'was'.

And 'gud' instead of 'good'.

Now I use some text talk, but some people abbreviate every word! It does my head in!

My current cringe is the ad on TV for Australian Seniors Insurance Agency where the grey haired bloke says "I didn't have to take one of THEM blood tests or medical tests either"

Fair dinkum, those you idiot not them. Who the hell is responsible for letting this ad go to air? :brick:

Now we are starting to get onto one which I can't ever remember learning at school but which really annoys me today.

When should you say "… and me" or "... and I"? The rule is so simple but almost everyone gets it wrong. All you need to do is think what you would say if it was just you, then add the other person beforehand.

For example:

"**I am** going to the footy on Sunday." becomes "**Dave and I are** going to the footy on Sunday."

"Do you want to go to the footy **with me**?" becomes "Do you want to go to the footy **with Dave and me**?"

Who was the genius who decided not to teach grammar to children? I have since had to struggle to learn all these little things on my own.

It's not rocket science, is it, but it's so hard to learn it when you are older. As a teacher in a much maligned demographic, it's exceedingly hard to teach children to speak properly when their parents don't, and worse still when they are called all sorts of names for trying to speak properly. :frowning:

It's Camp…..p.....Camp-bell-town....how hard is it.... :brick:

I don't care what the card says either....It's wrong...It's MOORS.... :brick: :brick:

I knuw,,,I had it in their for Suzie but ya got me 1st…Nah I stuffed it up....
