Esan Marsters

Esan was terrible for us almost every game. His form only deteriorated with the cows. Paul Green buying his signature was laughable. Green really is a shocker of a coach. With a bit of luck, the Donkeys will snap him up.

That’s not completely true, Marsters was a pretty good player for us, even playing for NZ. Last year he was our leading try scorer (although his form got worse as the season went on). I don’t think giving him the kicking responsibility helped his confidence at all.

He’s much worse this year imo, completely hopeless.

So bizarre. He was a great rookie. But I've not read any analysis that pinpoints his drop in form. I could only see a lack of effort and focus?

He and Hess have been a flash in the pan.

Thats the trouble they look the goods coming through but when you come up week in week out against the BIG BOYS it all changes some```

``` change up others don't and become the plodders of the comp
AD could fall into the same boat as Esan, cant quiet nail fullback centre or five eigth.
Esan had that one good year
Has he been tried at centre or 5/8?
He (Marsters) was/Is good at what he does well, using his body to attract defence and offloading. Once clubs understood this and realised he had no plan B it has not been good for old Esan. Whether he can prosper in the back row I don't know. Once again Maguire has previously proven to be a very good judge.
The Signs were there way back...
When you think you made it... Thats where you have to work hard to keep it going.
Its pretty obvious Thurston ( except for his final year ) held the cows together - they have been a shambles since he retired.
I don't think Green is a crap coach ...but he spent far too long at the Cowboys
Probably should have left the year after the losing GF ...he hasn't been helped with the massive injury toll
Their chief play maker hasn't played all year and last season was completely out of form
Remember this bloke along with Taumalolo got them to a GF
Marsters has definitely got worse. He always struggled in defence but he’s not even making as many metres and scoring as many tries as he did last season.
Joey Leilua despite his brain dead suspension is a much better player. He was just finding his form too before he got suspended, I hope he comes out next week looking super fit
Saw him at a KFC drive through recently.... :-(
Hope he recaptured some form but hey not our problem. I bet he was a lazy trainer that's why Maguire said good bye. I still believe AD will come good. He might be carrying an injury at present
No AD hasnt been tried at 6 or centres but dont think he is a fullback, out of position with kicks etc. Just reminds me of Esan in that he had the good year everyone praising him then wham....
Think AD might be a bit like that good at multiple positions but not really great at any
and yes he has been tried at centre
That is breaching NRL biodiversity protocols..
Hope no one else was watching..
Centre is an odd position nowadays. Definitely not the glamour position it used to be. There are all kinds that can play there, I reckon it suits AD.
Did you say he has or hasn’t been tried there? (you kinda said both😬)
That’s no good ? he looks good in some training pics I saw though. Four weeks of fitness should have him going alright
As a second rower in Canterbury Cup he used his side step very well. Playing centre he did lack speed but cemented his centre position in Wests tigers 1st grade because of a lack of centres and goal kickers
Yeah it's quite disappointing that he hasn't realised his potential. He was awful last year. Not a patch on his earlier days with us. He's only 23 or something, he has his best years still in front, if he doesn't pull his finger out he will wind up being a career reserve grader.
I think centre will be his best position.
