Ex player injury curse - coincidence or good management....

I note with interest that the vast majority of players that Wests Tigers let go at the end of 2009 have picked up fairly significant injuries before they have played a game for the new clubs.

Is this a case of pure coincidence, or did the club let go of players who they knew would struggle to get through the season? I know some injuries have been as a result of accidents i.e. broken bones etc, however some seem to be ongoing problems.

Peni Tagive - ACL - I seem to remember Peni having this injury in the past -(out for the season)
Dene Halatau - ankle - (still 6 weeks away)
Dean Collis - knee/hamstring - an ongoing issue for Dean unfortunately - (indefinate, however a minimum of 3 weeks to go)
Corey Payne - shoulder - ongoing issue (out for the season)
Danny Galea - not sure of the injury, however on 2UE tonight they said Danny would be out for six weeks (6 weeks)
Daine Laurie - foot/toe - (5-6 weeks away)

There may even be a couple i am missing and i am not sure about the guys who went to the UK. Either way the above list is amazing considering most are still some time away from returning to the field. I am sure their clubs would be disappointed.

Hopefully we can stay injury free (touch wood) and make the recruitment drive in the off-season look even better.

Good management. Most of those players were dead wood wasting cap space. Be even better management if we can get one more marquee player in 2011\. We are still a top notch forward short of being a dominant side. If we jagged a Lima or a Mason last off season we would have great balance.

It must be disappointing for Collis to have continual hamstring injuries…The club did the right thing in letting him go....

Galea broke his thumb,5 to 6 weeks,Halatau will be back earlier than expected,as he has healed quicker(2 weeks maybe),they won't break Johhny though,he is one durable player.

They did let go of players that are injury prone but they signed 2 injury prone players in Cayless and Tupou…
