I noticed that Pascoe was asked about this article on “Ask The Boss” and didn’t really dispute it.., just said all clubs do this and all it’s part of the overall cap management process….although he did mention that the article unfairly singled out the Tigers which is fair comment in my opinion…

I think however some fans just want to deny any potentially negative story as “made up”…i think that is definitely not the case

I try to look at it from a CEO and Board point of view.
My understanding is that for many years they have virtually left the recruitment solely up to the coach and recruitment manager, basically signing off on whatever they wanted like virtually all other NRL clubs do.
When things go bad and everyone is looking for someone to blame about lack of success mainly from sub standard playing rosters, it’s very easy to blame the CEO and Board as the past failed coaches and recruitment managers they hired are no longer around.
Then when the CEO and Board decide to become more involved in the final decision making, the mass say they are interfering.
It’s a tough job getting the playing roster and salary cap right and it’s becoming more apparent that nearly every NRL club not in the top 8 have stuffed it to some extent.
