It's been obvious the past couple of years we have been divided in here.

Obviously through Sheens, Potter, Taylor and Farah. There was some fierce debate and people obviously sat firmly on one side of the fence.

However for the first time in a while I am seeing 90% of Tigers fan unite. Obviously I don't speak for everybody however reading here in the last few days.

* We have faith in Cleary and trust in him
* We want Woods out as captain ASAP
* We detest the way these players have carried themselves
*Most can accept they are leaving and are not angry at that, rather the way this has all played out
* We know their are troubles at board level and its going to be a long, tough road back
* Were happy to follow a team that has a crack every week with players of high character. Hopefully ivan can start putting that in place over the summer.

The next couple of years might be lean, but I would rather rather follow a hard nosed, no frills teams, then a "big 4" bunch of show ponies. Even if it means we struggle. I mean we never made finals anyway with this big 4.
 
Yeah I agree with all of that, except I have no idea of what goes on at board level or whether there are troubles and I don't really care about it.
 
I hope the majority of people can see the club have done nothing wrong.

Here is some tips to help you not being fooled by the media who justify themselves through bagging the club because of their lack on talent at their profession.

2\. Ignore daily telegraph and fox journalists
3\. Follow SMH reporting of rugby League in particular Michael chammas
 
There is one fan that isn't all too 'Happy' but I agree, the majority is united.

Love that team, been following since early 2000s and saw them go through a very similar situation to us in 2010\. NBA Champions in 2015 BTW.
Let's stick solid! (Could use that too.)
 
Can I ask your opinions on why you say we have troubles at board level?

It seems because they are going about business in a sound and quiet professional manner they are somehow inept, but to be perfectly honest, if it wasnt for the malicious media scrutiny Marina Go seems to attract, at a purely business level, we have been moving in a positive direction.

As much as many wanted Taylor gone, the board couldnt remove Taylor the same year they had him hatchet Farah, especially due to KPI's considering we finished 9th. On that front we need to divorce what needed to be done, and how to achieve it within the professional landscape.

I hang my hat on an old post of mine where I stated Cleary wouldnt touch us with a barge pole. Turning that around was a massive coupe. Cleary wasnt a budget signing by any means, and the autonomy he demaded wasnt something we would have relinquished in the past.

The COE proposal is outstanding, unparalleled by any NRL club, and something we have obviously never had fly since inception.

Finally onto the current contract fiasco… in weaker times we pandered to player demands. We cut Potter loose when he was perfectly correct in calling for a 2yr RF contract instead of the 4 we gave him. In the past month we demonstrated we learnt from that saga, allowed Cleary the power to re-evaluate their contract offers, and acted accordingly to the budget he proposed necessary to be successful.

I am not being smart.... how has the board failed us?
 
Agree with this. Membership also way higher than it has been, media has been more professional and higher quality production. and Marketing has been of a higher quality.

Organisationally we seem to be better placed in lots of fronts than ever before.
 
I think the board have failed us in several ways.

They backed JT - Who I thought was a poor appointment (but some could argue he did a decent job)

Which Took out Farah and alienated some of the fans.

Then Sacked JT 3 weeks into the season after backing him to the hilt all summer.

Seems like policy on the run.

We are paying for players to play elsewhere. All our players were off contract at the same time.

Not sure if some of it was the previous board however they have to take their share of the blame.

However I have to say getting Cleary and not being walked over by these players. I won't say they deserve credit. However they might be getting more flack then they deserve, I don't know!

100%.

This is rooting out a player culture where they are almost unaccountable.

We are already moving in the right direction.

Feel fans should get behind club and especially Cleary and even show support for the board so current and future playets know they can't make excuses and must be accountable for the 500k to 1m they get.

No, I distinctly recall you supporting the JT appointment. You posted that you had inside mail that he blew the board away with his preparation for the interview whereas Potter simply expected the role. I even recall you attended a fan forum that Taylor presented at and was impressed with his analysis of our defensive problems under Potter and Sheens.

JT may not have been the right man for the job but his record was no worse than Potter. JT was also a change agent. He came in and gave an honest assessment of some of the players on the list and their longevity.

The sacking of JT was the right decision and it was the right timing. Our performance in 2016 wasn't great but it was enough to stick with him. The problem was that our performances in rounds 2 and 3 were so poor it was clear that JT was getting the traction and improvement from the players. Most concerning was that our edge defence simply hadn't improved.

From a qualitative assessment, JT had to go.

Your post also misconceives a board's role. No one expects them to be Nostradamus and make all the right decisions. Rather, so long as they are listening to the experts on decisions like coach recruitment, player retention etc that is all that can be expected. Their job is to create the systems and process to build for success. From all reports the Board had tried to do that although there have been blockers - being people that don't like change - Siro Sr, Farah etc are just some of the examples.

I'm not sure either of you actually qualify as "fans".
 
I think apart from a couple of posters who seem to believe everything the Telecrap and other News affiliated sources put out, most of us are on the same page.
No issues with the board and Cleary is a great appointment.
Really disappointed with what's happened especially with Teddy. But in the end we'll be fine. Give me a team of guys who wear the jersey with pride.

Thanks for the reply, i wasnt being argumentative…. was honestly curious.

I understand where you are coming from, and i suppose how a person takes specific situations defines their distribution of accountability.

For me, making the often distasteful decision in the court of public opinion to correct an error put in motion by a previous administration, with conviction and accountability shows strength which Wests Tigers fans arent used to.

Each to their own.

You have a good memory Southern, better then mine!

I di not attend any fan forum however I think there was one live streamed from memory on the Tigers website.

Your right, Southern what I should have said ia after about 6 weeks of football I thought JT was a poor appointment. At the start I had hope for Taylor I made some positive posts about him. Although if you recall I was not in favour of firing Potter, as you were. However I did also say in the Pre season I didn't like the way he bagged past coaches and did not like the job he did at Souths and how that finished. After that Taylor ball garbage and ringing up a radio station live on air to defend himself North Queensland I was off him completely.
 
As i have said in other threads we need a cattle drive and restock. One thing you learn in life is you cant change the past only learn from it. Here is hoping.

Unfortunately the club will never grow up whilst ever membership is just a fan membership. The board are not accountable to the membership. Unless that changes it will be the status quo.
