Robbie Farah will miss the RNL All Stars game after winning Super Bowl 50 tickets.
ROBBIE Farah will not be playing in the NRL All Stars match next month because he has won tickets to Super Bowl 50 in the United States.

Farah paid $15,000 of his own money in a charity auction to secure the once-in-a-lifetime prize, which includes airfares, accommodation and two tickets to the match at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The game will be played on February 7, just one week before the All Stars match, and by the time Farah flies back the NRL Stars will already be in training camp for their February 13 match against the indigenous All Stars.

Farah didn’t realise the conflict of schedule when he bid for the tickets, and received clearance from his club Wests Tigers long ago to attend the match, which will feature half-time entertainment from Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars.

While Farah is well-known as a Liverpool FC supporter, he is also a huge NFL supporter and has spent much time discussing the intricacies of the game with mate Jarryd Hayne. Coincidentally, Super Bowl 50 will be played at the home of Hayne’s franchise, the San Francisco 49ers, and will be one of the most watched sporting events in history, with 30-second commercials during the broadcast costing a record $US5 million.

To give an idea of demand for tickets to the game, 49ers fans who purchased season tickets to Levi’s for up to $80,000 were told they’d be able to purchase Super Bowl tickets at face value, but now look set to miss out due to an overwhelming rush. Online sites are advertising tickets for $12,000

Be interesting to see who Unca Wayne picks as his replacement...

Give me Super Bowl any day of the week over NRL All stars game. Unnecessary game to prove what? Player gets injured and the Clubs are in disarray before the Season proper is underway …...especially if you loose one of your playmakers.

Farah wasn't aware of the Schedule when he bidded for the tickets ( so he says).....The Club has okayed it anyway don't see what the problem is.

I thought this was the off season training period and an important part of the build up to the coming season not the holiday period , yes Farah has always lead by example . The club has okayed this !!!. Be careful not to upset the man ,the club is a joke and so is the CEO.

I believe feb 7th - is also day two of the 9s?
So no Farah for the 9s either

I think the timing of it all is not good and totally understand that it doesn't look good after all the Dramas we have had.
At the end of the Day it's the Club that have given the permission for him to go, they pay his wages.
Do I agree with the Club in allowing him to go? Not really cause he played his part in the dramas and sends the wrong message…..then again other Clubs have allowed other players to do Boxing.
I don't think a 4-5 Day trip around the world is going to be the difference in Farah having a good or bad Season but i do understand that he should be thinking of his teammates and the Club instead of his Selfish self.

Yeah no problems with this.

Imagine if all our players wanted to go on holidays a month out from the season… Yeah that's cool, have fun Bon voyage.

Some of you really need to pull your heads outta your orifices

What an arrogant jerk he is.... Didn't know the schedule, Lol.... Yeah it's so hard to research when the superb owl is.... Even this non NFL fan knows it's just before the NRL season

agreed Ink

Get rid of this gronk… He is a disgrace to Wests Tigers and Rugby League

Its an absolute disgrace he is putting some mickey mouse sport ahead of promoting RL & NRL

I hope the NRL issue the club with a fine for approving such leave!

I wonder if the Superbowl had clashed with SOO 1 would he still have gone ??

What do you expect from a Scouser ??

Defo not.
He's not a scouser either, he's a wannabe.

Doesn't deserve to be a part of the "leadership group".
An absolute selfish jerk.

Some may disagree with me on this, some may not…
But - I can't wait to see the back of him.

If this is his approach before the season even starts, I daresay - don't expect much from Farah this year guys.

He does _not_ care.

Mark my words.

I would expect nothing less from him, Tigers second.

The game he is missing is worth a bean imo.
Who gave permission? Should be sacked.

Maybe the guy that disagreed with this is the one looking for a job this week ?

This story was reported on page 44 of today's Sunday Telegraph. Directly below the article is another article headed, "Cash-strapped Tigers can't cover Moss payout." The article reports, "One Tigers player who didn't want to be named told the column the playing group were upset over Moss' sudden departure. We thought all the internal bickering was over and now this happens he said."

I wonder who the unnamed Wests Tigers player was? Surely players should not be allowed to provide sensitive comments like this to the media? It would seem that the subject player is trying to embarrass the club even further.

I actually take this comment back and after much thought and reading other post…..my comment is wrong on so many levels.

1\. The Club has rolled over and conceded defeat in allowing Farah to go over to the States and entertain his Self interest.
2\. I believe the Club should of told him " Don't take it personal but we can't allow you to go on the grounds that it leaves us open to other players request ". I mean who's to say that next week Tedesco won't request a weeks leave so he can go to Melbourne and watch the Australian Open.
3\. We are opening ourselves up to the media and allowing them to have a snipet of this and continue the bad media towards our Club..
4\. He has plenty time in 3 or 4 years to go to a Super Bowl.

I concede defeat and as Demps has said once Farah has left our Club? Only then will our rebuilding as a squad and Club commence then.
I have tried to stick up for Farah and felt he was hard done by when he got told to look elsewhere.....but you know what I have seen the light and he only truly cares about himself.
He can piss off out of our Club now we don't need anymore dramas connected with him.

I don't give a crap about the Allstars game….but I do care about our pre season and so should Farah.
It's not a good example for all our young blokes... Who no doubt will be training in mid 30° heat while he's off enjoying himself... This stuff leads to resentment and factions

gee whiz Robbie way to show leadership amongst oure side lol . weve just come off a shambolic season . and you want to go on a holiday youre a joke the club is a joke for letting you go . preseason training gearing up for an important year is all that should matter . cmon what is going on Farrah just runs this joint . nothing will improve until this joker is gone. we are the worst run club in nrl and a joke . spoon coming oure way.

It also shows to me that Robbie still does what Robbie wants, when Robbie wants, how Robbie wants…it's always been about Robbie,he was great in the early years with us,however,he is starting to wear really thin lately, bad media and controversy just stick to him....I'm with FT the sooner he goes the better...
PS..as for people saying that if Robbie goes and Iam referring to a couple of Tigers supporters I know, then they will never follow the tigers again, they can go with him...their will be life after RF.....
