Farah/Taylor Thread...

It is an easy problem to solve - when he returns from SOO put him in in the NSW Cup.

We are still paying him and he is not disrupting the NRL side.

He called our bluff - now it is our turn to call his.

It seems to me that the club simply gave Robbie permission to negotiate elsewhere. They were prepared to subsidise his salary but were never going to pay him out in full. Many of you will remember that Farah and Ayoub asked for cancellation of the contract and payment in full to which the club responded that this was not going to happen. Yes, all this happened a bit late in the day but all Farah had to do was continue to play with WTs and in fact, that's exactly what he did. That left the club with no option but to accept the fact that he was staying.

Many players are given permission to negotiate while they are under contract, including Chris Lawrence who also decided to stay. The prospect of playing in State Cup is something that all players have to live with and it could happen to anyone. Robbie now has real competition for his spot and maybe this is why he took the decision to say the things he did but by doing so he is undermining the club that he's supposed to love.

Speaks volumes when you've played nearly 250 games for your club, captained it for half your career and won a premiership, and arguably been the greatest player that's played for the club, and yet a significant number of supporters of said club can't stand you. It's one thing for opposition fans to hate you, but it's saying something when it's your own fans.

Once again, it comes back to him thinking so damn highly of himself it's sickening. Humility isn't Farahs forte. Balins availability and ability is perhaps keeping him awake at night.

Significant number? A few on a forum! Go back to the game at CSS and you get a very different view of support for Farah.

I wonder what some of our fans would make of Cam Smith???

The complete the opposite of Farah right?

Signing 2 contracts (But we should feel sorry for the players)

Demanding an on air apology from Channel 9 (just get over it Cameron)

Just a thought.

Wonderful player.

His behaviour re Channel 9 was stupid and embarrassing. Whingeing about a news segment casting you in a bad light when a kid can't walk.

Its the height of selfishness really.

Probably worse then Farah.

Agree but at least with Smith it only reflects poorly on him, not his club.

My point is people see Smith (an angle) as the opposite to Farah (the devil) when there behaviour traits are similar.

Hahah

An Angel??? :roll Come on eddie…
Most cant stand him
As for him demending an apology, I think 9 came forward with their weak as P sorry just so they can get to him in Origin

My point is because its Cam Smith people choose to ignore it.

It was a hot topic on all RL media for a week after

Anyway...I think its sad two of our all time greats will and have left on very bad terms....theyre both way below blokes like Hodgo, Skando Buckets & Rowdy

Thats a fair point. This forum is not particularly representative of general fans. However, the consensus on this forum at the time was generally in support of Farah so the crowd reaction at CSS was consistent with the view of the forum at the time.

I suspect even general fans are tiring of Farah's "what about me" antics.

Itd be safe to say the ratio on this board would be fairly close to that of the fan base as a whole…though maybe less as I guess many not here wouldnt be aware of all thats occured on this topic in the detail we have here

I'd say most agree with your assessment, except the last bit. I have enjoyed RF being our hooker and captain as much as anyone, but his time at the top of the tree has passed. He and his management have changed what many think of him currently, and thats a shame.

Hate = Ennis. Hate does not equal Farah. Id say a majority are just really disappointed that it has turned out like this. You get the usual on here (i dont include you GNR) that continue to defend him as if the whole world is mistaken. Pawsandclaws for example is never far from defending him and bashing the coach, and thats his prerogative. But everyone else is entitled to be at least very puzzled at the whole thing, he could have come out of this like Lawrence, smelling like roses. But he and his management chose a different path.

Thats not our fault.

To be honest its hard to gauge over an internet forum. Prob about 10% of the clubs fans use this forum maybe less.

Farah got a great reception at Ctown (not his home ground) against the Warriors last year.

At Leichhardt that would probably be 10 fold.

The WT and JT identified mid last year that Farah and our halves DO NOT work well together.

Through his Manager, Ayoub, the WT tried to broker a deal to move him on….all in the quiet. When no deal could be done Ayoub, went to the press and painted Farah the victim and guess what it worked.

Bottom line is Farah is well past his best, even though he is earning more now than he ever has... our record this year with him playing is 1-6, when he is off we look slick and confident, when he is playing we look disjointed and slow....sadly, Farah will not accept he is past it, nor is he willing to allow the WT to move on...and for the rest of 2016 and 2017 the WT and sadly, JT is 'stuck' with Farah unless he decides to take on other options...meanwhile, we and JT will soldier on with Farah playing FG, because if he drops him to NSW Cup all Hell will break lose and the bad publicity to the club will be in overdrive...so we will go on losing games with Farah playing and of course the pressure will be squarely on JT to the point where he will get sacked or quit...so the new coach comes in and what will change?...nothing....the same issue will be there...meanwhile Farah will be in the corner smiling while the club he supposdly loves goes down the gurgler because of the situation...sheez can we put up with this for another 1.5 years????...No wonder Brooks and Moses are hanging out....its not the coach that's the issue, its the Farah situation that worries them...

1\. Pay Farah out in full and be done with it. Good PR for the club and JT gets the team he wants.
2\. Ballin is heavily subsidised and can walk on water if you believe some members.

For all those who wanted Farah gone, I don't understand what the issue is?

I doubt they were in a financial position to just "pay him out in full" with a bag full of cash. It would have been a terrible financial decision to fork over $1.8 million right there and then even if they had it available (which they wouldn't have). It would have cost them $100K in foregone interest for starters.

It also would have had salary cap implications. You can't just pay players enormous amounts of cash outside the terms of a contract (which paying them out 2 years early amounts to). I suppose they could have done it regardless and paid another $2 million in salary cap penalties and bankrupted the club - would that have generated good PR for the club?

Once they (whoever they were) made the decision to get rid of him there were only so many ways to go about it (in the real world). What they did was no different to what Manly did with Ballin. I agree that it wasn't the best way to go about it with Farah - they screwed up by failing to take into account his ego and bullishness. They should have just worn season 2016 as his swansong season and allowed him to make an announcement portraying that he was leaving on his own terms, plus offered some kind of lifetime club statesman role. Even that probably wouldn't have appeased him, he would've been offended and tried to take down whoever he thought was blame.

When you see the halves play when Farah is not in the team this could be why they will not commit maybe it is not the coach is it Farah!

Snake,

In your world that makes perfect sense.

Brooks was dynamite with Farah alone against Souths.

Maybe Brooks wants Moses out and thats why he is holding out !! : :unamused:

What a stupid idea. It will be a circus again with the media having a field day. Our season will be derailed. Besides Farah is too good for state cup.
