He knows the club wants him gone though, so he's unlikely to fall for that bluff. If he goes we will likely end up paying the difference between what he's on for next year (say $900K) and whatever contract he gets in ESL (say maybe $600K/season over 3 years) - so on those completely made up figures we would be paying him $300K next season.

Farah gave up salary years ago when he could have invested it when for example real estate in Sydney was only two thirds of what is now, now they want to get rid of him because of financial issues is completely not fair to him. And some fans here want to put the boot in as well as a going away present.
