Still gotta ask yourself why no other club in the NRL is interested in Robbie Farah , the NSW SOO hooker , yet Peats gets snapped up in less than a week

Who cares. He is still the SOO hooker and a real good player. I bet on the right money he could pick up a contract elsewhere.

I think its just the $ outlay for a aging player, having your Brother working at Souths would also come into it you would think.I think Jack Gibson in his Easts days let a Trainer(Conditioner?) go because he had relatives involved with another Club.

No one is yet to cough up the 400 k outlay we asked for

400 k for a current SOO hooker seems a steal to me …............

It is only 400 k plus the baggage that comes with that ..this is probably the problem.

One is half the age and half the price ( and in better form )

Its not that hard to work out really.

Cam Smyth?

Sounds like a good prospect.

Cam Smith on the other hand is a Top 3 player in the game who has won 9 Origin series and 3 GFS.

So I dont understand the hysterics, Of course there would be interest in him.

Farah was a match fro him early in his career but not these days.

Yep. I dont begrudge Farah getting picked. He doesn't deserve it on form but was overlooked when he did.

But to suggest he is in the top 5 hookers in the game in the past 12 months is the definition of delusion. Wouldn't be in top 10.

If Farah goes to the ESL would we still have to pay him anything for next yr?

I would think that we would be at least morally obliged to pay him for the pay cut that he took a few years back. Whether we would be legally obliged, I don't know.

The release for the final year of Farah's contract is up to Wests Tigers.
If he gets a good 3 year deal on the same money or more which, given the exchange rate and also being outside of the salary cap as an import in the ESL is possible.WT would then not pay any of the final year of the contract. I would think we would have to pay out monies deferred from previous years.

It depends on the terms of the release. We could dig our heels in and force him to break contract, in which case no we would not have to pay anything. He knows the club wants him gone though, so he's unlikely to fall for that bluff. If he goes we will likely end up paying the difference between what he's on for next year (say $900K) and whatever contract he gets in ESL (say maybe $600K/season over 3 years) - so on those completely made up figures we would be paying him $300K next season.

If i was a good player manager i would say that the story with Leeds is B/S Robbie not going anywhere staying with the Tiger he loves them to death let the Tigers sweat than tell Leeds hes coming wait a couple of weeks then say to the Tigers Robbie and Taylor carnt work together its bad for the team but i could talk with Robbie ask him to leave because as the manager i am a nice guy let the Tigers sweat again knowing they need to make room in the Cap come back and say no harm no foul i spoke with Robbie hes come around lets have a golden hand shake he will walk away end of season free agent for say 550K every ones happy Tigers save 350K on the cap and all is good

Robbie is a free agent can sign with anyone and what he signs for with another club is none of the Tigers business sign the contract i made for Robbie weeks ago when i said the Leeds story is B/S for the marquee player allowance for 800K a season for 3 years as the manager i get percent of all the money that Robbie gets paid so i am a happy man

Totally agree ST , lot of quality young hookers running around , you may have missed my sarcasm …..

My point was anytime in the last 25 years of SOO if a current SOO hooker went on the market they would of been snapped up in a heartbeat , yet here we are ...............

I was agreeinh with you Happy. Didnt miss the sarcasm. Can understand why you may have thought otherwise.

My recollection is that Farah did not make himself available to any club standing his ground the whole time determined to see through his contract
The only time he asked for a release was after Ballin was signed demanding to be paid in full knowing full well that there was no way in hell that the club could afford to do it.

And it probably mostly became an issue because of back-ending, that other clubs are now swearing off. So many clubs had to go through this shock treatment. Farah gave up salary years ago when he could have invested it when for example real estate in Sydney was only two thirds of what is now, now they want to get rid of him because of financial issues is completely not fair to him. And some fans here want to put the boot in as well as a going away present.
