I found it funny someone said the other day I was making excuses for Brooks, I didn't want him re-signed, especially on a 5 year deal, I was accused of hating him, now I am making excuses for him, funny really..
When in reality I think he is way over rated, his defence has improved but he has delivered bugger all, but we went all in on him, so we have to make it work, and getting a 7 and moving him to 6 would be a good first step I reckon.

His defence should be the norm ...
The rest is barely A grade standard !

Brook is sitting in the top 10 for try assists leading the run metres for a half as well as most line engangments in the NRL..what does that make the rest...which of them should we get to take us to glory..genuine qustion...

Define glory ...
Glory as in we win 3 in a row ?
Or blitz the Comp ?

Lets just start with 8th and work our way up from there..any suggestions

Coming in at number 8 is Sam Williams

News to me mike ..

Oh dear Another one bites the dust..

damn it @Geo, here I am thinking I’d be the smart pants of the forum and play devils advocate , offering up a legitimate/on par for ability solution to L. brooks inability to take us to finals... I mean Teddy and co couldn’t do it for the same period of time and NONE at this club, but let’s castigate him all the same!

I’m drawing blanks mate, only one bloke I’d love to see play alongside Luke is Green ... the Blake variety ! Maybe Foran in his heyday played the kinda footy to compliment Brooksy?

Really can’t think of others besides maybe A Cody walker (is he even good?) or Keary (never) & knowing our luck if we somehow prized off say a Dylan Brown or Flanagan in a couple years they’d definitely never realise that so called ‘potential’, or would cop out due to injuries and environmental factors with Wests, and I’d have my doubts as to whether that was their own weak mentality’s brought in by division at their previous clubs or lack of roster management here, bit of both maybe...

What I’m realising is that not a single player I’ve been able to mention after a good 15 minute think would DEFINITELY be consistent here, and until brooks either goes hard or goes home for the right reasons at our club - id like him to be a solo player and take the reins.

If he cannot do that , then as one of his fairest supporters I’d have to admit he failed in his role

For now though - no way, I may be brain dead atm but I’m not blind and can see that he’s gotta be out there on the park for us!

So between Farah and Marshall they have 600 games and can’t win a game ..
The reason is Brooks is running the show..!

**'I'm here; JT is coaching reserve grade': Farah's 300-game Taylor sledge**

Not even a couple of cortisone injections in his neck will stop Wests Tigers pin-up Robbie Farah bravely soldiering on to NRL game No. 300 on Friday night.

The tough-as-nails Tigers No. 9 will reach the magical mark in Newcastle, and revealed the club had only a few weeks ago planned to give him a week off to cope with the pain, which would have also meant his magical milestone was celebrated next weekend back home at spiritual Leichhardt Oval.

Farah bleeds black, white and orange and while forever grateful South Sydney threw him a lifeline when unwanted by the Tigers – or more specifically former coach Jason Taylor – it is a great shame he will not retire a one-club player.

Taylor famously told Farah during an emotional 2016 season had he stayed at the Tigers he would have finished his career in reserve grade.

"I wouldn't want to hear from JT anyway,'' Farah told the Herald on Tuesday when asked if he expected a congratulatory call.
"At the time I was told by him and 'Rocket' Reddy I'd finish my career in reserve grade. But I'm here now - 'JT' is coaching reserve grade [at North Sydney].''

Just like his good mate Benji Marshall, who celebrated his own 300th game last Sunday week, Farah would happily bypass all the fuss for the two competition points at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Farah, 35, has worked overtime to remain on the park after he injured his neck playing for Lebanon last month. He caused further damage a week later going low on Souths back-rower John Sutton.

"I keep getting pain down my arm, which isn't nice. I guess I could have done with a week off in between, but I'm trying to push through it and we need some wins,'' Farah said.

"My brother Eddie has been unbelievable. He works his arse off at the Rabbitohs, but he'll call me and will come to my house or dad's place and treat me late at night."

"Without him treating me, and with [physio] Pete Moussa here at the Tigers, the way those two have looked after me and got me through my career, especially the last couple of years when the body has had its issues, I can't thank them enough.''

Wests Tigers veteran Robbie Farah has dropped a major hint about his retirement plans.

Plenty of family and friends will make the trek up the M1 Motorway for Farah's big night, but Eddie will stay behind for Souths, who host St George Illawarra in the 8pm game.

Farah's late mother Sonia will be looking down, he said, but would have had a simple message for her boy.

"She'd have the shits and would have told me to quit years ago,'' Farah said.

"She would have seen me with the injuries and the pain I go through and shook her head and said: 'You're an idiot, why are you still playing?' I don't know if she'd be proud. She'd be like, 'bloody retire'.''

Speaking of which, Farah and the Tigers remain in no rush about a deal for 2020. The tip is Farah will call it quits and Marshall will play on.

Farah's understudy, Jacob Liddle, continues to bulk up and is understood to have already signed a new deal with the club, while Queenslander Jake Simpkins arrives in the new season with big raps
Premiership winner Farah is already the most-capped Tiger, but it's fair to say he could have set a longstanding record had he not been forced to leave before his 2018 mid-season homecoming.

Damien Cook, the Souths, NSW and Kangaroos No.9, praised Farah for pushing his own game to new levels during his 18 months at Redfern.

"But to see him back at the Tigers, it put a smile on his face, it put a smile on the face of so many league fans, especially Tigers fans, and he knew he had some unfinished business,'' Cook said.

"I believe the Tigers are where his heart is. He loved his time here at Souths, but it's great to see him enjoying his footy where it all started. I can only wish him the best for his 300th.'

Who can forget the most embarrassing moment in West Tigers history. Well two of them.

1. Robbie running to a waiting car after that game at Cambelltown when Tallis/Farah gate he said she said.
Too scared to face the media storm.

2. Robbie digging his heels in to stay when the club didn't want him. No other player in history has made such a fuss over being asked to leave.
It sticks in my mind watching Paul Vautin shaking his head and in disbelief at Farah after the interview.

He said it so many words, grow up and move on.

Look at grub. The way he's handled being tapped on the shoulder shows what a class act he is. Unfortunately Robbie didn't handle himself the same way. The fact he used a young player's thoughts of suicide to get back at the club was disgraceful and indefensible and will always make it hard for me to have any respect for him again.

I'm sure he's having a big cry about your distorted thoughts about him.
Farah getting pushed had nothing to do with form or injuries like Reynolds (he just finished playing an origin game when dumped)
It was all about that miserable thing called Jason Taylor... and look where that little ray of sunshine led us to.

9th. Like Ivan who had run of the house and more than likely 3 or 4 places higher than Madge will have us.

From here 9th will be an achievement .....

**Tigers lock down Robbie Farah replacement but keep quiet on veteran’s future**

Tigers youngster Jacob Liddle is set to announce a new deal.

Wests Tigers are in a holding pattern over the future of Robbie Farah, but the club has locked down the man it hopes can be his long-term replacement at Concord.

Foxsports.com.au understands the Tigers and 22-year-old Jacob Liddle have agreed to a new deal.

The club is expected to announce the news next week, once Farah’s 300th game celebrations have died down.

Liddle has played 36 games for the club since debuting in 2016, interrupted by a double shoulder operation at the beginning of 2018.

He’s played second fiddle to Farah this season but the Tigers have put their faith in the young rake to fill the shoes of the 2005 premiership winner once the latter does retire.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire is a fan of Liddle’s and was keen to keep him at the club.

“He’s going really well, I’m really pleased with Jacob,” Maguire said on Thursday.

“Jacob Liddle is going to be a big part of the future and where we’re going.”

The sticking point now is whether Farah decides to retire at season’s end or sign a new one-year deal.

His premiership mate Benji Marshall is being tipped to run around again in 2020, and if that happens Farah is likely to join the ride.

Maguire says the club is preparing for both possibilities.

“We’re aware of where they could possibly go. We’re in a position to cater for those sorts of things.”

WESTS TIGERS

WHEN you look back at the players who have represented the Wests Tigers, your mind automatically goes to guys like John Skandalis, Brett Hodgson, Scott Prince and Gareth Ellis. But if I had to pick the club’s greatest player, it’d be Robbie Farah.
In terms of creativity, he’s the greatest hooker to have played the game. When you look at his attack, vision and ability to play what’s in front of him, no one has done it better. He changed the No.9 role with what he could do creatively. The style that we played in 2005 was to move the ball, and a lot of that started around dummy-half and he was the guy doing it for us.
When you think about how many games he’s actually played for the club, he’s at the top. When you talk about influence and a guy who’s given not just his body but his heart to this club – that means more to me than the actual achievements on the field.
The best players are the ones who inspire others, and when you talk about why you play the game, it’s because you want your team-mates say they want to play with you every week. Robbie is the guy everyone wants to play with because he’s so competitive in everything he does and you can see how much it means to him.
When someone cares, it makes you want to go to the same level. He’s inspired me to be better every week just with how competitive he is and how he approaches the game. I’m so lucky to have played as many games alongside him as I have.
Robbie has achieved so much on and off the field ahead of his 300th game this week, so it’s probably unfair to choose my favourite moment. However, I can’t go past what he did a couple of days ago if I needed something that perfectly summed up his attitude towards the club.
I thought they made a really big deal of my 300th a few weeks ago. They did a lot of things on social media, a lot of presentations and media commitments. But Robbie came in earlier in the week and ‘Madge’ (coach Michael Maguire) said that we had to lift for his 300th.
Robbie stood up and said ‘No, I don’t want to talk about it – I don’t want this week to be about my 300th game, I just want to win. This isn’t about my milestone – I just want to make the semis, and if we don’t win, we’re gone. I’d rather win than have people worry about me playing 300 games’. I think that speaks volumes of where he’s at and how he treats this club.
People say it’s a shame that he didn’t get to play his whole career at the Tigers, but I don’t see it that way. I’m sure he would have loved to have stayed, but sometimes you’ve got to make changes or be taken out of your comfort zone to realise how much it means to you. Then, when you come back, it means so much more to you. The reason we’re playing with the passion we have been is because we had to have that taken away from us to appreciate it more.
He may not want us to use his milestone as motivation on Friday, but when we run out, those thoughts about how much he’s done for the club will be at the back of my mind. Seeing how much it meant to him for me to play 300 games, I want to repay that. He got up and spoke at my presentation and said a lot of nice things about me, so I feel like I owe it to him to go out and have a good performance and try to win because we need to if we want to make the finals.

Eye of the Tiger: Laurie would have loved Robbie, if not his name

Laurie will be at McDonald Jones Stadium in spirit on Friday night as Farah joins the elite group of just 38 players to have amassed 300 games in first grade. Significantly, he is one of only three specialist hookers to be on the list, alongside Cameron Smith and Luke Priddis.

It is arguably the toughest position to play because there is no switching off.

Defending in the middle is a constant, demanding physical challenge and the area that every team seeks to dominate.

In possession, they touch the ball more than anyone else, so sending it the right way, to the right person, at the right time is vital. It also needs to be delivered accurately; if the first pass is off then the whole movement breaks down.

Every now and again our game affords us a beautiful symmetry, as is the case with the return of both Farah and Benji Marshall return to the Tigers.

After both debuting at the club in 2003, they soon became the personality of the team with their flair and skill levels providing the catalyst to the club's premiership title in 2005. It wasn't always plain sailing over the subsequent seasons and it was under difficult circumstances that they headed to other pastures.

Despite these cameos in different colours I know that when they eventually hang up their boots I will only ever see them as Tigers.

Before then, there is still work to be done and Friday night's clash with the Knights will go a long way in deciding as to whether another finals campaign is to be undertaken. Both teams have hit flat spots losing their last three matches at a time when you need to start building momentum and moving up the ladder.

The Tigers have been told to "harden up" by coach Michael Maguire, the Knights need to tighten up after conceding 92 points in those clashes. These are the type of games that Maguire will look towards his experienced players to lead the way.

Josh Reynolds has endured a tough run at the Tigers.

It is a need that Robbie will be keen to fill and repay, especially after the dispensation he was given earlier in the season by an understanding coach. At the beginning of June Maguire allowed Farah days off to travel to Madrid to watch his beloved Liverpool FC in the final of the Champions League football competition.

As far as I can recall, it is an unprecedented decision made during a season but one I absolutely loved. It was the type of call Jack Gibson would have made.

It was the ultimate display of respect to a warrior who has given his all for the club and has earned the right to a degree of special treatment.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of a bigger picture, involving a passion that is literally skin deep for Farah. You don't get a "You'll Never Walk Alone" tattoo unless it is something that resonates deeply.

After the Reds beat Tottenham in the decider on a momentous night at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, Robbie sent me a simple text that read: YNWA. Liverpool fans will fully understand.

So, too, would have Laurie Nichols who would travel far and wide in his customary singlet, in all kinds of weather, to display his passion for what touched his soul. It wasn’t only Balmain supporters that embraced him, we all did.

Laurie would have loved Robbie.

The only thing he would have struggled with was putting together a suitable catch cry because there aren’t many words that rhyme with "Farah".

That get square was one of my favourite moments on the field. I think we as supporters/key board warriors should stop for a moment.....think and reflect on what Robbie has sacrificed and achieved for the thing that is obviously meaningful and important to us all.....this club (otherwise we wouldn't be forum members) instead of putting in the boot.

God knows how much I want OUR team to play semi final's football but we can't ignore what Farah has achieved (love him or hate him) and I've loved him and hated him at various stages in his playing career. I'm sure every forum member here has otherwise you are kidding yourself.

As fans we sometimes contradict ourselves and are selfish....me included. We want players to be loyal to the guernsey (when it suits us) but on the other hand when we get the loyalty aka Robbie and Benji and the results don't go our way we consider their loyalty to be a selfish act on their part eg holding on to dear glory.

Always put things into perspective, this is a hobby or passion for most people on this forum but this is life and a lively hood to these guys. Put these thoughts into your own life for a second whereby you give a good part of your life to eg a job and all is well when you were in your prime, but, when you are getting older (btw mid 30's - peak years for 99.9% of people) your considered over the hill.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that passion and loyalty is what we ask for and should not only be reciprocated but celebrated.

A well balanced and responsible comment which reflects my own views to a very large extent.Robbie certainly has his faults but not trying his heart out for our club is not one of them.Hope he has a blinder tonight but has enough sense to announce his retirement at the end of the season
