Fifita to Sharks?

The thing is that Gibbo and Sauce are still relatively young for props and have years in them (hopefully with us). Woods and Fifita would definitely have the vultures circling, but even if we were to lose one of them, I've seen enough of Begovich and Groat to feel comfortable with our frontrow stocks.

if they throw big dollars at either Fifita or woods, unfortunately we will lose them, and if I either of those 2 and I get offered the big coin i go, there is a squeeze for spots in the forwards at the tigers, an injury or loss of form at the wrong time could see a slip of the radar and result in never getting the big pay day. It is their career!

Don't agree with that. Fifita and Woods are so far playing regular first grade, with the exception of Woods who will more than likely be brought along more slowly. Even still, both these players have first grade futures at the Tigers and the Tigers certainly will not want to lose either of them.

Why would they want to go and play for club like th sharks anyhow??? wouldnt it be better for there career to accept a little less and play under a coach like tim sheens and play with a team that has a serious title threat???

Many will disagree, but personally I'd prefer if this was Payts' last season, if there is a risk of losing one of our young props. On the other hand, our recent retention has been superb.

The fact that we have such a young forward pack in the making strengthens the need for Payten to remain and take the guys under his wing. His experience will be invaluable to them.

I think Gibbs, Galloway, Ellis, Farah have enough experience to guide the younger players. If Payten leaves he will still be around the club in some capacity - so the stories go - so all is not lost there.

Ill be dissapointed if one of our young guns leave and we buy Blair or Graham

I dont want fifita, BMM nor Woods to leave..

I dont want us to sign players if there going to end up being kicked out..

Seriously…

Why give away this

x 3 … show faith in these young guns and the tigers will be kicken it for years to come.

Add Adam Blair in place of Todd Payten. I don`t think it will take much convincing getting Todd Payten to retire and put him straight onto our coaching staff. We only need to add Adam Blair and we have a sensational squad for the next 3-4 years atleast.

1.Tim Moltzen/Mitch Brown
2.Lote Tuquiri
3.Blake Ayshford
4.Chris Lawrence
5.Matt Utai/Beau Ryan
6.Benji Marshall
7.Robert Lui/Jacob Miller
13.Chris Heighnington
12.Adam Blair
11.Gareth Ellis
10.Keith Galloway
9.Robbie Farah
8.Bryce Gibbs

14.Liam Fulton
15.Simon Dwyer
16.Ben Murdoch/Junior Moors
17.Andrew Fifita

You don't even have Woods in there, that's a gleaming testament to our depth. I'm going to reserve judgement on Toddy until the end of the season. He's no spring chicken and I have no doubt he'll improve as the year goes on.

Im expectin the tigers to tap a couple of our players on the shoulder, to move on at the end of the yr. Doing this would help the club fifita/woods and BMM at the club… props are hard to produce and when you have some goodins you shouldnt let them go...

We have so many over rated players.. We have a strong back line & great halves.. We just need to refreshen our forward pack.. Keep our young blood like Fifita & Woods & spend up on 1 or 2 elite talent from other clubs after moving the players in the list below onwards to other clubs or ball boys..

People are going to tell me that fulton this & gibbs that.. You have your opinion, i have mine.. None of those players are game changers or worthy of rep honors.

Over rated & need to be released to free up some spending money.
Payten
Fulton
Gibbs
Moors
Flanagan

I think they are both outstanding talents, and would love to keep them, but we will lose some of this crop coming through.
My point with injury, if Fifita (as an example) was to get injured and BMM comes in and plays the house down, like many including myself believe he will at some point, and woods continues to play well and improve, we may find it difficult to bring fifita back in, out of sight out of mind, he will still get picked up, but rather than getting the big contract on offer now, he will be offered something substanially less… potentially.

There fore if someone offers $250k ive heard thrown about, i cant blame him for taking it, or any other players for that matter.

Besides Payten I don't think the others are on big money. I mean, I'd love to have 25 great players, but it just aint going to happen with a salary cap in place. I'd take Gibbs & Fults any day.

If they take Fifita, I'm not too fussed tbh. We're bound to lose some young players and imo Fifita hasn't really come on like I expected him to. His penetration is minimal, his only real attribute is his fend and that only worked at first because players were trying to tackle him properly. Now they realise that have to arm grab him, it's show over for Mr Fifita. Other than the one 50 metre try he has done absolutely nothing this year except crab sideways and get arm slung to the ground. Out of Woods/BMM and Fifita… I'd be least upset to lose Fifita.

Were you expecting him to be a SOO quality prop after 10 games? Fifita needs greater penetration no doubt. But he has developed a lot faster than Gibbs ever did. I would keep Fifita, Woods and BMM and let Gibbs go if we were forced.

You can't be serious about Gibbs can you . Gibbs defensively is the best prop in the game and does wonders for our line speed in defense . He rarely gives away penalties in defense anymore and is a wiiling worker and gives our forwards a grit \bite .

Why is it that many on the Forum do not see the good contribution that Gibbs puts in week after week?

Many are stuck in the time warp from a few years ago when he would give away a few stupid penalties a game. Now when he gives away a penalty it is usually far from stupid and allows the team to settle or catch their breathe a bit.

great post suzie and even then gibbs only gets penalised because the refs are picking on him.Whilst greg bird cons the refs all day everyday and gets away with it.I know who id prefer my daughter to marry.

gibbs is a must keep. speed off the line, aggression in defence, but his off camera stuff is great. watch the ground he covers, he often tackles the opposition player who breaks the line. brilliant!
