Lazarus has been tried and tested at NRL level? Really?

I guess accordingly to your policy we shouldnt hand any debuts to our young players this year?

I mean the halves.

The story was about including lazarus which is what i agree with, but have a tried and tested halve pairing.

What is your 1, 6, 7, ?

I would go with either of these (given that Sheens isnt going to make too many changes).

1\. Tuqiri (I am concerned that Lazarus has only played 1 season of fullback and that was 2 seasons ago. He would need 6 weeks in that position for me to try him)
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen

1\. Tuqiri
2\. Lawrence
3\. Moltzen
6\. Marshall
7\. Lazarus.

The latter isnt going to happen, so I support the former.

Lets not put too much pressure and expectations on the lad, huh?
Its a big big step up from reggies to firsts

Its exciting that we will finally have a creative organising half wether it be Moltz,Lazarus or even Taumata who knows but who ever it is I wish them all the best and I hope we can finally get a long term solution, its a pity an injury to young Lui bought this change though, The half isnt the main issue at the moment though our defence is.

Matt good post. Who plays half is actually the last of our problems at the moment. With Farah and Marshall we have sufficient creativity and organisation.

Taumata isn't an organiser mate. I'd be VERY suprised if Tim plays him along side Benji as he's essentially an off the cuff / ad lib type player. He'd be good as a 14 IMO.

I was at a game years back where the Dogs were playing. At the time Anasta was 'the' young star of the game.

Low down in their reserves was a kid making his debut. A mate of mine who is a good judge said to me "this kid is going to be much better than Anasta". I just laughed and said "whatever…...."

That kid was Thurston.

A couple of years ago I was in a box at LO with some Tigers people when Lazarus walked in. All the people there basically said "he's the guy".

Injuries de-railed him, but class can't be stopped.

Mark down tomorrow as the day our search to replace Prince officially ends. Once he gets in, he'll be there to stay. He'll be a better player than Moltzen (who's also excellent). He'll be our gun half beside Benji for the next 5 years.

Mark it down. Lazarus' time has arrived.

(Note: If Tim moves Fitzy to the halves, I'll officially give up. LOL).

6\. Benji
7\. Lazarus

The combo that we'll be built around for the next five years fellas............

gee i hope you are right ,,,the kid is top kid and he deserves his chance…and just quietly he isnt playing for the money.

If he was a normal rookie, I'd agree.

But he's not. He's a rep level junior who's been around the squad for three years. The only reason he's not ahead of Mioltzen in development is injuries. He's ready mentally IMO.

Quite a bg call considering he hasnt tasted NRL…time will tell.

and just quietly he isnt playing for the money.

Please tell me which servo he uses that dont take money, as well as food, beverage & clothing stores

We all need money champ

**This is from almost two and a half years ago** This kid has been waiting this long for the chance. If he hadn't of been injured, we'd be talking about him being better than Moltz right now.

Lazarus has the right bloodline
BY WAYNE COUSINS
**12 Dec, 2007**
\
\
BLAKE Lazarus wants to make it clear hard work, and not the famous Lazarus name, has got him to where he is today.
\
\
The 19-year-old has landed himself a contract with the Wests Tigers Toyota Cup under-20 team and not only is he determined to shine in the new competition, **he also wants a crack at playing half-back for the Wests Tigers first grade team.**

As a cousin of former NSW and Australian prop Glenn Lazarus, Blake has the bloodlines to be a success.
\
\
He has the form behind him, too, having won the Balmain Tigers Rising Star Award for 2007 not bad for a young man who joined the Tigers after limited opportunities at Parramatta, the Bulldogs, and the Sharks.
\
\
Blake grew up in Campbelltown and played for the Eagle Vale-St Andrews club before moving onto the Parramatta competition.
\
\
``I have never used the Lazarus name to get ahead, I have had to do the hard work myself,'' Lazarus said.
\
\
``Glenn told me not everything will be given to me and that I need to put my head down and to do the work.
\
\
``He also told me to prepare for life after football as your career can end anytime, so I am going study carpentry at TAFE next year.''
\
\
**Just like his famous cousin, Lazarus is not short on confidence and is eyeing off the number seven jersey occupied by John Morris.**
\
\
He already has done some field sessions with the first graders in between training with his under-20 team-mates.
\
\
Morris is the incumbent half and has NRL experience behind him. **Outside of Morris, Lazarus faces stiff competition in Wests Tigers Junior Kangaroos Tim Moltzen and Wayde Dunley.**

``I welcome the competition. **You have to back your own ability,**'' Lazarus said.
\
\
``If I can train hard and put on the weight I want to, then who knows.
\
\
``I might get some time in a trial match to impress.''
\
\
Wests Tigers Toyota Cup Coach Peter Gentle said Lazarus is under no illusions as to what it takes to make first grade.
\
\
``If I had 25 players with the same, right attitude that he has, then it would make my job very easy indeed,'' Gentle said.
\
\
``He would have to be one of the most well organised young players I' ve come across. He certainly doesnt leave anything to chance.
\
\
``Blake wants to make it to first grade and it could well happen next season, but in saying that, there is plenty of hard work and football to be played before then.
\
\
``**I can tell you one thing, though, when his opportunity does come, he will make the most of it.**''
\
\
It is not only Lazarus' attitude to training that has impressed officials.
\
\
He is keen to learn what rugby league is about, on and off the field.
\
\
He has participated in Wests Tigers community events including the Fishers Ghost Street Parade in Campbelltown and the White Ribbon Foundation event that supported the elimination of violence against women.
\
\
``I enjoy the community work. If I can do more, I will,'' Lazarus said.
\
\
``It shows the other side of the game and the good work rugby league players do in the community.
\
\
``For me it's a learning curve. I'm very happy at the Wests Tigers and I can't wait for the comp to start.''

Attidude is the problem there are a couple of high profile guys that need the rocket ,i noticed in some pictures of camp concord some door ways were made a bit larger i thought this might of been that some HEADS were a bit large to fit though..the real Champs put in EVERY game regardless.I have a theory why the team has slumps on the paddock but will see how the next few games pan out .Lazarus is the man for 7 class always wins out… imagine having 2 halves that are deadly and can carve up it,s been a while.

Great topic! Lazarus is class and he WILL be a star in first grade - it's just a question of when.

He has had a bad run of injuries but he has done everything he can and more to get himself ready.

I have been watching him a few years now and although I had my worries after all he has been through every game he has played this year he has risen past all my expectations and eased any doubts I may of had on when he will be ready.

I've seen enough to know he has all the goods we need, I won't expect him to be the next Prince on his debut (but then again he has exceeded my expectations many times before) but what I do know is he will be a player that continually improves game by game, and he will give it his all.

I will be quite excited for him when his day comes. Talent aside he is a great man too and will make the club proud on and off field.

Ive watched Lazo play twice now and both games he gave a mom performance.

According to reports off some of you these efforts arent infrequent.

Im more than happy to see him given a go but my question is where do you play Moltz? He is an attacking gun and needs to be in the run on side somewhere.

If we start the game with a 1) Lazarus 6) Marshall 7) Moltzen we can interchange Laz and Moltz if the Marshall Moltz combination isn't working.

I would prefer Moltzen gets his chance at 7 first, he was undefeated in that position last year and he should be given a crack first, although I do rate Lazarus… Highly.

And, the added bonus of Lazarus at Fullback and Moltzen at 7 = No Fitzy in the side!!

Tim usually goes for the minmalist approach early in the season … ie changes that will cause the least disruption.

I expect moltzen to stay at fullback with either with Taumata or Lazarus as the new No.7

He can do whatever he likes with all the other positions but Moltzen must play halfback. This is one big game coming up.

Sheens seems to rate Lazarus so I'd expect him to be halfback.
