Fire Fighters overrun by flames

Tragic way to start the new year...

Thoughts with those who lost their lives..

One near us was deliberately lit

As I believe the one up my way was, with a couple of teens being questioned. Lucky with the southerly arriving and pushing it up a narrow corridor between the Newcastle rail line and housing, then into an area that had burnt out a year or so ago, which provided less fuel. Some losses, but could have been a lot worse.

One in Cecil Hills started by teens too. No losses in our area but fire close enough to put a bit of fear into you. Still on watch and Act but under control.

Apparently the one on the coast was started by a couple teens who thought it would be a good idea to go into the bush and smoke bongs. Which segways into why I hate people. Some idiot on Facebook posted their identities, which of course, got the lunatics with their pitchforks raging. All it takes is for a lawyer in the case to argue they can’t get a fair trial because their clients reputations got slandered before they could prove their innocence. I like people individually, as a group, they are cancer.

Not a smart idea and deserving of punishment if deliberately lit, regardless of their state of mind. Still, whilst I haven't had any type of recreational drug for a decade or so, if it wasn't for the politics of prohibition, most likely they wouldn't have been there at all.

One of the biggest issues that causes people to stay in fire affected areas is looting

When we had the big fires last year in the Baffle Creek area many people didn't leave for that exact reason

The crimes for looting in fire affected areas needs to be big jail terms .....name and shame ....same for any caught starting fires

Just about every news source is stating that this saturday is potentialy going to be the most dangerous day we have had in a very long time and i certainly hope they are wrong.Stay safe everyone and if you are told to evacuate dont hesitate leave immediately, places and buildings can be rebuilt people are gone forever.

Idiots continue to let of fireworks with total fire ban. Really makes your blood boil.

We've moved into Bega. Will be defending the house at Kalaru against ember attack, but with the forecast winds, we'll be getting out and back to town if it looks like turning real nasty. The waiting game is a long-winded one. But fortunately, we have a waiting game. Places like Cobargo weren't offered that luxury.

There was some really awesome pictures on the news the other day of firefighters defending MOGO zoo....

Some of the trusted managers took some smaller animals home with them for protection...

If u have ever been there.. U should know that 90% of it is made up of the "Africa" section which is all grassland with the bigger animals...these grasslands were soaked with water to help protect them

Just stay safe bro .....no need being a hero to save property

And that's the other issue people just can't imagine what the worst case scenario is .....far worse than anyone can possibly imagine or be prepared for

I have no intertest in heroism mate - trust me. I'd be the Darius Boyd of fire fighters.

The RFS have contained Grose Valley. The backburns have stoppef the rapid spread and have allowed them to get on the front foot.

So glad Scomos thoughts and prayers were finally received.

I see that our (NSW) Emergency Services Minister David Elliott has arrived back from his European holiday taken in the middle of an unprecedented fire crisis situation.

Gladys should just send him down to force people to shake hands like Morrison did yesterday, as he has shown a similar level of leadership.

No 1 priority is to stay safe everyone. Things are replaceable, you are not. Take the advice of the experts and do whatever is needed to protect yourselves and your families and friends.

Man it's so hot today.
Awful conditions during this harsh time.

Supposed rain on Monday in my area at least, hopefully everywhere else too.
