He's the dot and I'm slightly west of it.

You obviously haven't meet him ...he's a lot bigger than that dot lol

Here's to the firies- both volunteer and professional. They're enduring horrendous conditions and it's been sustained for weeks now.

Not much I can do where I am in Jakarta but I'll certainly donate to my local RFS when I get back to Canberra region. They're bloody marvellous and in an age where heroes and bravery are undervalued and knocked by some, they're my heroes. Cheers to the men and women doing their bit.

Edit- i'll throw in a slab of beer too when things quieten down. Geez it looks bad on south coast according to ABC. Puts our footy thoughts and squabbles into perspective.

On watch here down in Kalaru. Awful to hear of the fire that's caused so much damage in Cobargo to the north and down in Victoria. The potential of what may lay ahead is frightening around Bermagui. We've packed up the caravan and taken it to town, but are back to readying to defend. The skies are orange and dark grey, the wind has dropped and the smoke is choking. It's a crazy scene. Blazes north and south of us. So we have hoses at the ready, gutters plugged, trees and plants trimmed ground dampened, shed cleared of oil, fuel etc. Cars packed...just the horses and dogs to go. So now we sit and wait. A new years eve like no other ahead.![IMG20191231114425.jpg](/assets/uploads/files/1577766684903-img20191231114425.jpg) ![IMG20191231113438.jpg](/assets/uploads/files/1577766682586-img20191231113438-resized.jpg) ![IMG20191231112425.jpg](/assets/uploads/files/1577766680960-img20191231112425-resized.jpg)![IMG20191231113721.jpg](/assets/uploads/files/1577766789994-img20191231113721.jpg)

Good luck Rusty, was in the same position couple years ago in Pt Stephens, they told us to pack up and get ready to go, not good

Midnight tonight in Australia and particularly in NSW should be a time for a period of silence, not fireworks and celebrating.

Without going back to years of being informed of change, our governments were warned about this particular national emergency in autumn by a large group of highly qualified experts, yet despite the further lack of rainfall and fires starting at the end of winter, still ignored their warnings.

That so many of those facing these monstrous fires are still having to do so ill equipped with PPE is quite negligent from our leaders. Remember that this is not something new, it has been a long time coming, but they reopened Christmas Island in no time and for no reason other than a $185 million propoganda photo opportunity. Yet on this we have to drag them back from holidays after listening to the replacement talk about self combusting horseshit.

Terrible ... all the best and hopefully things will settle down for you. God speed!

There is a fire on the other side of the lake about 3km from me up here near the top of the Central Coast and it has jumped the Pacific Highway. If not contained, the current North Easterly winds will propel it further towards the motorway and the giant fire that has been burning for months.

What a terrible situation we find ourselves in and rarely is a disaster shared in various parts of the country at once. It's a national disaster beyond compare and appears to be far from letting up.

Time to bring it down in buckets Huey and help the nation out PLEASE

We got lucky Xmas Day about 50 ml in 30 minutes .....no power for about 2 hours though

We’ve had 1.2mm this month ( Total )

Fireworks should have been cancelled as formerguest alluded too. National disgrace.
Watching fireworks when so many folks are literally surviving in apocalyptic conditions

I’m in Wyong atm. Near Charmhaven. It was ablaze this afternoon. Seems not as bad now.

Yeah, that's the fire that I alluded to earlier.
