I have been making changes lately and Im loving it.
Ive had a lifetime of sport and training but like many, over the last 10years or so let it slide. Actually 10 years ago I had a big life changing incident and I got motivated and lost 20kg and got fit, but then got happy and put13 back on. Over the last 10 years I have developed a weird arthritis which has badly impacted my joints with pain and stiffness and so training has been hard and the pain and stiffness is demotivating.
Few months ago I did something counter intuitive for an unfit middle aged man with bad joints, I started training BJJ. Joined the best gym in Sydney and instantly loved it, then after only 3 classes COVID hit.
Did nothing for a long time but the last month Ive been training on mats at home with just bodyweight stuff and BJJ drills. Want to be in best shape I can be for when the doors open back up.
Outstanding man.
BJJ is an art... read BJ Penn described it the other day as the martial art designed to make the smaller man be able to win against a bigger opponent.
I'm a life long martial arts fan.
Really appreciate a good submission finish in a fight (sport) these days.
Keep up the good work.
Mate I have fallen in love with it and totally addicted. It is such an intelligent art, total mental game.
I boxed as a young man and all my kids did karate or TKD but for me BJJ is next level when it comes to mental planning, process etc.
Unbelievably lucky to find the Professor I did. He trained under Helios and Royler Gracie in Rio and actually taught in their school. He trained with Rickson. Unbelievable lineage.
No doubt.
Gracies are the GOATs and have shared their knowledge.
Schools everywhere opening up, trained by the Gracies.
I enjoyed watching Kron Gracie make his way into the UFC, impressive debut but not the best follow up and I read he's focusing on his own gyms now and training people.
