I think this is a good thread for people who are younger than myself to share programs and exercising tips..I have done plenty of weight training and running in my footy days and don't care to much about the high impact weight training, but I totally agree with the ones who want to do it...
Yesterday Golf Australia closed all golf courses and my sporting pleasure now sees me setting up a pitching area in my yard, luck has it there is plenty of room, can even set up a practice swing area using practise balls that I have at home..Im even going to drill a hole through an old ball and attach a long piece of elastisised twine so I can hit it at impact and it doesn't go further than the string...creativity my friends...
Im also using this time to get things done around the place ready for winter, cutting wood, cleaning gutters and painting should keep me busy and give me plenty of excersise..hopefully everyone stays healthy and safe,if you do do weights and excercises don't over do it,be sensible and all will be fine..

How long have you been playing golf TT? Love my golf, it's more of a carry an Esky around for 18 holes while hitting golf balls in-between these days!😉
Been playing for about 38 years, finally snared a hole-in-one last November and haven't had a chance to get out for a hit since.
What handicap are you on, what courses do you play?
Golf is awesome, have seen so many funny/interesting things on golf courses over the years.
Hope you are able to get your fix of golf in the backyard mate. All the best👍

I have been playing for a few years now and I have a GA handicap of 26.3 atm...I was down to 18 but had an accident and popped my rotator cuff and didn't play for about 4 years..I was a member of Moss Vale golf club but haven't renewed yet..I had my sights set on playing in the seniors masters for amateurs on the Gold Coast this year but it might be hard this year with all that's gone on.to make the cut the max hcap is 26 and I reckon I could have made it,oh well always next year..I played at the Pines on sanctuary cove about 15 years ago and it was great..

Cheers buddy, was lucky enough to be able to see it disappear. Shame it wasn't for a car or $$$$!
Moss Vale would be a nice course, not sure if I've seen it on one of those golf shoes on Foxsports. What is that other course (NSW Golf Club?) where it runs right along the ocean? That place looks majestic.
We have some nice ones here in West Oz, pity it costs a few days wages to play at some courses though?.
Good luck with getting through all your trials of recent times champ, I hope you are out indulging your passion for chasing the little white ball around soon mate?

Thanks FTB, I haven't had the opportunity to go to WA yet,but I have seen some of the courses in Golf Australia its a monthly mag for the golfers looking for deals as well as informative conversations all about golf.I will certainly be pursueing my golf passion as soon as my life starts to get a bit back to normal, gee its been tough but I have good friends around as well as our great forum, some of the guys on here have been great with offers of help in what ever way they can....all I can say is you are all superb..
Keep teeing up champ and the main thing is if you aren't scoring well at least enjoy the round in good company and STAY HEALTHY AND SAFE mate...

Love my golf, it's more of a carry an Esky around for 18 holes while hitting golf balls in-between these days!?
Been playing for about 38 years, finally snared a hole-in-one last November and haven't had a chance to get out for a hit since.
What handicap are you on, what courses do you play?
Golf is awesome, have seen so many funny/interesting things on golf courses over the years.
Hope you are able to get your fix of golf in the backyard mate. All the best?

I have been playing for a few years now and I have a GA handicap of 26.3 atm...I was down to 18 but had an accident and popped my rotator cuff and didn't play for about 4 years..I was a member of Moss Vale golf club but haven't renewed yet..I had my sights set on playing in the seniors masters for amateurs on the Gold Coast this year but it might be hard this year with all that's gone on.to make the cut the max hcap is 26 and I reckon I could have made it,oh well always next year..I played at the Pines on sanctuary cove about 15 years ago and it was great..

Congrats on the hole in one mate the closest I came was 6cm for birdie,I also had a couple of eagles and that makes you come back..hahaha

Nice one mate! You will enjoy getting out there for a few swings. Surprised they have allowed courses to re-opens so quickly TBH. There will be plenty of "gimme's" with people not wanting to touch the flagstick I bet.
Enjoy it when you get back out there champ??

I haven't exercised with weights since my knee surgery and was about to get back into it during the week when my neighbour popped in to talk about the crazy price of equipment now that all the gyms have been closed.

I had a look and was surprised at the amounts that were being asked and gotten on marketplace, and elsewhere. As such, I advertised a set of a 20kg Olympic bar with 55kgs of rubber coated plates for $350 and within minutes, the continual notification beeps on my phone sounded ring tone like. Sadly, my word is my bond and I cost myself at least another $150 on that after agreeing to a sale and placing it as pending, as people continued to bombard me with much bigger offers and to pick it up immediately.

For amigos interested in gym and applied physics!

Asked by Nassim Taleb on twitter
WEIGHTLIFTING
Friends, for every additional 10lbs of say deadlift how many additional pounds of muscle mass would be gained? Approximately of course.
Answer:
For example, individual with 85kg LBM, 200kg 1RM deadlift ('true' 1RM), improving deadlift for 5kg, (all things being equal, given this allometric model) should gain 3.2kg in LBM.

After another six weeks of exercising, albeit somewhat intermittently for this period, this morning I’ve finally reached the fitness level of a 7 year old.
That’s progress.
