I am a huge supporter of this forum and absolutely support everyone's right to express their opinions - that's what the forum is for. This article bothers me, though, because it suggests that, as WT fans we are not prepared to give our support to every WT player.
As far as I am concerned, anyone who runs on the field in a WT jersey has my 100% support, whether I agreed with his selection or not. If you don't think Fitzy is the best player for the spot, express that opinion on the forum, then get out to the ground on the weekend if you can and scream your lungs out for Fitzy to do well.
The attacks on Fitzy have become personal, and that isn't necessary, or fair. He is the club's second-highest try scorer and deserves respect for that.
Sheens is right to support his players and it would be wrong of him to criticise them in public no matter how they play. Hence the 'so-called fans' remark. My own view is that Fitzy will drop to the bench or State Cup when Taniela returns, and that has always been the plan. The fact that the team has suffered so many injuries has caused Sheens to select Fitzy for his experience. He did well on Friday night.
In the article, Fitzy says he doesn't read the forum - I hope he is telling the truth because some of what has been written on here about him is hurtful and personal. I want him to know that he has my unwavering support on the field, whether I think he is the best full back in the club or not. Go the Fitz. Go the Tigers.
