Folkes to depart Concord for Dragons

Link?

Makes sense that the Dragons would want to pair an experienced deputy with a rookie head coach, especially with the void that would be created by the loss of such a steady and experienced a head coach as Bennett.

Probably a better chance of getting the head job there

 poorly worded post there matey!

LOL indeed.

I think its a big loss for us personally. Hope the fitness programs that he put in place at the tigers don't go to waste.

Wests Tigers can announce that its High Performance Manager, Steve Folkes, will be leaving the Club at the end of the season. Folkes joined Wests Tigers in 2010 and since then has been a key member of Head Coach Tim Sheens’ coaching staff. Chief Executive Stephen Humphreys said that he would be sorely missed. “Steve has made a substantive contribution to Wests Tigers over the last couple of years. His experience and professionalism has been of great value to us and we wish him well with his endeavours.” Folkes added: “I have greatly appreciated the opportunity the Wests Tigers gave me. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at a great Club. “I have very much enjoyed working with great coaches Tim Sheens and Peter Gentle, their support staff and the players. I have learned a great deal”. Sheens also praised Folkes for his help and support. “Steve has been a tremendous help to me. His expertise and knowledge of the game has been second to none. But this is an excellent opportunity for him and the Club wishes him all the best. “That said, we still have him on board for this season and there is definitely a job to do. I’m sure he’d love nothing more than a Wests Tigers premiership come the end of the season.” Folkes will take up the new position of NRL Assistant Coach with St George Illawarra from 2012. Since Folkes arrived at Wests Tigers, its no coincidence that the fitness of the players and the teams defense has improved. Its not up there with St.George or Brisbane but its better than it was and I think Folkes can take the kudos for that. I'm disappointed that he is leaving.
