OFFICIAL Fonua Pole #257

We did so there is hope for everyone.
Lol true I suppose, but I still can’t help feeling that two teams in particular are never going to hold the trophy, the Warriors and the Titans. They’ve been around long enough now, they’ve both had some great rosters over the years and the Warriors, in particular, have had their premiership window open so often yet they still haven’t been able to fly through it.

I know Cronulla took a long time to get their first, but with more teams coming into the comp, it’s only going to get harder to win a premiership. I’m sure the Warriors, at least, will be up there again next season, but actually winning it? I’m not so sure they can and the Titans are really just the northern equivalent of us, perpetual also rans.

Cronulla's is tainted, half their side should have served four year suspensions with Sandor Earl and they breached the cap the year they won the comp.

Whilst we reaaaallly need a #7, idk if id sacrifice Pole. It feels like his best years are yet to come. It would he another case of letting quality players go that kick on at other clubs. Surely there are others we could sacrifice if push came to shove.

I'm not saying it's mutually exclusive, but if I had a gun to my head I'd take a first grade quality halfback over resigning Pole.

The more you reduce the go forward with the pack the less room all the backs have to work their magic, Pole although not elite yet, would weaken our push forward if we lose him.

Unless another impact middle is incoming for 2028, he is a must keep.

Idk about you, but in a perfect world, I wouldn’t hesitate trading him for Cleary. I think I’d even trade him for someone like Boyd or Sandon Smith. He’s leaving anyway. Might as well get something for him 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is he leaving though?

Pole is the difference between getting a quick play the ball and allowing Api space around the ruck to set up our halves and outside backs. IMO he is the best at getting on his front and punching holes through the defense by some margin at the club

The issue with him is he is a very limited forward, not as effective when he starts and has lapses of terrible defense. He is valuable but not worth breaking the bank for. If some club offered him insane money, we are toast in terms of re signing him
