To avoid de-railing other topics, I thought I'd start this one so we can talk smack about food and drink.

Feel free to share recipes and the like as well.

Does anyone know where you can get good Leb food on the Central Coast? I'm not a Leb but my daughter-in-law is and she introduced me to the delights of the food.

I haven’t attempted to make it myself but I’ve had it a lot at Greek friends places and it’s the first thing I’d order in a Greek restaurant if they have it on the menu. Was told my one of the mothers that it’s the cinnamon in the mince that makes the difference.

I could really do with one now. Might try and make one for dinner tonight lol

Plenty of homemade pizza and pasta lately. Italian parents so guess that's just normal for us.

Big fan of most cuisines tho and my stomach is the proof.

I was only thinking about this sort of thread the other day.

Sadly I struggle to make nice crispy baked potatoes can anyone help with this.

And can anyone suggest a nice and easy steak rub to add a but of flavor.

Anyone know where to get good jerky/biltong?
Had one in the gong a few weeks back that was pretty good but forgot the name.

potatoes
cut, boil part way there, fork and rub them all over to fluff them up, bake in the oven with duck fat and salt (or oil and salt but the fat is better)

I don't care what anyone says, toasted cheese with vegemite under the cheese is the finest delicacy you will come across. The perfect combination of art and sustenance.

No joke...when I was living in England, a mate of mine was dating a Swedish bird. She would make toast with orange marmalade and sliced cheddar on top (not melted)...not a go to for me, but it was actually quite nice.

I boil them first for about 20 mins, drain in a colander and then shake them up in the colander to rough them up a bit. Take a tablespoon of butter and melt with a drizzle of olive oil, coat the potatoes and chuck them on a tray in an oven and preheat to 200°C. Should cook for about 45-60 minutes depending on the size.
