Former NSW coach Phil Gould attacks Blues culture after 10th series loss in 11 years

Russell, I like some of your selections….
I'd also consider Jake Trbojevic as a lock.
I also think Moylan could be a very good five eighth and give some spark there.
I don't think Brett Morris would let anyone down, but he's probably in the veteran class now.

I'd like to see Jack Bird in the starting line up too.....

I wouldnt blame Gallen and Farah. I would blame the men that put them in the team. If the right players got chosen, we wouldnt be having this discussion. While Daley and Fulton have anything to do with NSW, they will continue on that downward spiral.

I agree Fulton should have been moved on ages ago, and Daley is no great coach or selector.

To have any measure of success. Daly and Fulton out - that is a given.

Chop the older dead wood e.g. Gallen, Bird and Farah.
Chop the players that have been found to, not be good enough e.g. Jennings, Walker, Ferguson and Fifita.

I would play a team similar to below for Game 3 and assess where these players are at with the view of selections for Game One in 2017\. We have to look to the future with younger legs, more ability and once we get the mix right - stick with them. The team below are all under 26 except for Morris and Maloney (these two hopefully would keep control of Thurston and Inglis), they would need to be replaced by a five eighth ( Moylan, Bird etc. in the next couple of years) and Morris would need to be replaced by a younger centre (Croker or ?).

In for Game 3

1\. James Tedesco (23)
2\. Joshua Mansour (26)
3\. Joshua Dugan (26)
4\. Joshua Morris (29), or Jarrod Croker (25) or similar
5\. Tom Trbojevic (19)
6\. James Maloney (30)
7\. Adam Reynolds (25)
8\. Aaron Woods (25)
9\. Nathan Peats (25)
10\. David Klemmer (22)
11\. Boyd Cordner (24)
12\. Tyson Frizell (24)
13\. Joshua Jackson (25)

14\. Ryan James (24)
15\. Bryce Cartwright (21)
16\. Wade Graham (25)
17\. Matt Moylan (25) or Jack Bird (21)

Thoughts????

Have taken Curtis Rhona out as he is an NZer.

Was mucking around today before i saw this and came up with almost the same team to a man. I had Tamou instead of Ryan James. Need an older experienced guy. I must admit im not a fan of Tamou, but opposition teams dont like playing him, so he must have something.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Mansour
3\. Bird
4\. Dugan
5\. Ferguson
6\. Maloney
7\. Reynolds
8\. Woods
9\. Peats
10\. Tamou
11\. Frizzell
12\. Jackson
13\. Merrin

14\. Cartwright
15\. Graham
16\. Klemmer
17\. Fifita

It's simple, the front row does it's job, makes good meters and gets quick play the balls. We were on top for most of the first half but went in behind because of a Jennings brainsnap. The front rowers just need to run, and stop trying to ball play. Get the likes of Bird, Gallen and Farah out who stifle quick play (Gallen with settlers when they aren't needed, Bird trying to ball play & Farah trying to milk penalties). Peats will let the halves run the show and there is points in the backline.

I don't know why anyone would want to keep Blake Fergsuon. He hasn't done anything useful at club or origin level this year.

I thought about Tom Trbojevic as a possibility a couple of weeks ago because he's been on fire in attack, but having paid close attention to his defence the last couple of weeks he'd be a bit of a liability in that department - very grabby and gets brushed off a lot of tackles.

Teddy needs to be brought in as fullback. Moylan in my opinion is not Origin ready yet.
Didn't run the ball much. Kept passing the ball to the winger. Reminded me of Moltzen.

Moylan is having a good game tonight 1 off the ruck that why I put him at 5/8 in my team.
I remember Queensland having a good fullback move to 5/8 and killed it. DL

Daley has said Woods will be playing his last ever game of Origin has he tigerman80? Highly doubt it.

that was a mistake , it was meant to be greg bird. Woods was a machine as always in SOO. First front rower picked for years to come.

I'd go with:

1\. Teddy
2\. Trbojevic
3\. Leilua
4\. J. Bird
5\. Roberts
6\. Moylan
7\. Maloney
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Klemmer
11\. Graham
12\. Jackson
13\. Gallen

14\. Fifita
15\. Cartwright
16\. Merrin
17\. Frizell

Possibly the quickest back 3 in the game. Plenty of power in the centres. In form halves. Good combo of workhorse, enforcer, ball-play in the forwards.

Of course it doesn't matter who you pick if the tactics aren't right. Need to allow them to play some footy. Plenty of offloads in the forwards, create some 2nd phase play for the backs to run a muck.
